trolling or drifting, my favorite 2 ways to fish!
He guys,I have been berated on some other forums over my success while trolling. It's been compared to running over a rabbit with a truck and calling it hunting.I believe any method used to take fish with in the law is fishing.Even the guys on deadliest catch refer to what they do as fishing. What is fishing and what is not?
Tell them to GO TO HELL.......... :) :)
Fishin is fishin..........I take a charter trip to the GREAT lakes every hear to salmon fish. Let those JERKS go there and cast for salmon while I down rig and dipsey, and Planar board fish them.........
Fishin is FISHIN........PERIOD.

In my opinion, "catching" is "fishing" -- no matter what application you use. Some folks think live bait is "cheating" too -- I say use it whenever you feel that is the only way you can catch fish or help someone with considerably less talent or bad luck hook into one.
No matter what you use, as long as it isn't against the law or tournament rules, wetting a line is fishing.
You, my friend, are fishing.....;) and I've seen the pics to prove it and am in awe of them.
Although I don't fish for anything outside of the black bass spectrum, is it considerable to say that musky, pike, and walleye fishermen aren't "fishing"? To my understanding, trolling is one of the best ways to catch those particular species.
Keep on fishing FishFinderGeneral, just keep on fishing........
Tell them to stick it. Lots of folks troll for walleye, but consider trolling for Bass a crime. Absolutley don't understand the thinking of some people. It's not my cup of tea so to speak, but if I knew enough to be good at it I definitley wouldn't mind trying it a little more. Why worry what some holier than thou people think ??? Go for it. You catch some very nice Smallies along with other species that most wouldn't have a problem being able to show off pics of. Like seeing your pics myself.
Hey Guys, thanks for the support and I guess I shouldn't let them get to me.Like I said before, the people from fishin .com are the finest kind....even you Jbyrd LOL
What's really the difference between casting and retrieving and trolling? In both cases you're dragging lure through the water and in both cases, you're hoping a fish will bite it.

Nothing wrong with trolling, I would actually like to know more about the best way to do it. I would give it a try someday if I knew more about it.

Kind of like how I get flamed for saying I eat bass on this board?! LOL:D
It is so funny how people get mad for somebody doing something that is legal.
FFG as already stated, trolling IS fishing plain and simple AND those who say otherwise don't have a clue how to "do it correctly" or they'd KNOW it takes far more knowledge to contour troll then to simply pull up on some point and start slinging plastic.... Ignorance, envy no matter they have NO CLUE .....
IF they ever troll it's likely dragging a few lures through the water behind the boat, no logic no experience and probably not much fish caught IMO....
I've never tried the float-n-fly method - but I would bet in the early days there were "naysayers" to that too. "That's not fishing, you are using a bobber", etc. But then it took off - how many guys do you know now lugging around 8-9 foot spinning rods looking more like crappie fishermen than bass fishermen?
Don't sweat it! You are catching! And most of the time you are, like most, just fishing.... there is a reason they call it fishing and not catching! LOL
Tight Lines - oh, I guess you alredy have tight lines - trolling would keep them tight all the time!
