Re: Where to put in on the River
Using the little I know chuck I did, or at least think I did post up by current, I battled it for more than an hour. The locks would open and the current would flow up river. Then ten minutes later the current would flow down river. It was comical to you more experienced river captains if you were watching from afar. I set the hook every five minutes for over an hour. Then cuss cause I'm feeding something down below. Do you graph cars and down trees then fish em?
Re: Where to put in on the River
You can graph them or cruise around while the river is low and find lay downs and all sorts of structure. Between the upper and lower dam I know of two barges and an extended cab truck that I'm amazed hasn't moved in years LOL. around the lock discharge I would drift fish, trying to anchor in that area will spin you in circles for sure and it does get frustrating. Try drifting down the lock wall..at the end of the wall is a rock pile I catch flats pretty often there. I think bait is the key, fresh is allways best.. I don't use chicken liver due to the fact I don't fish for channels that much, they just don't get the size I want to catch anymore. Hope this helps. Chuck

mybentrod: It's better to fish with Doug at night rather than in the day time. At night you won't be able to see his ugly mug.:D
Just have to poke at the master of the river.
Re: Where to put in on the River
Doug I'll take you up on that. Headin to nolin tues then to Patoka weds and thurs. So it might be a little while. What hours are you talking about? Hey, wanna go to Nolin early tues morning?
Re: Where to put in on the River
In addition to fishing gear and other neccessities, when fishing with Doug there are a few itmes of importance. Firs, something to block the smell. My idea is to rub raw sewage in your mustache so that it blocks the scent of Doug. Also wear very dark sunglasses snd try to avoid direct eye contact. Doug makes Medusa look down right inviting! ear plugs are not mandatory but are recommended. Doug talks a lot and 90 % of what he says is a rumor, speculation or an outright lie. The other 10% is in a different language!
Other than that, good luck and have a great time! :D
