Re: Airport Security
If you don't want a pat down, go through the scanner.
If you don't want to go through the scanner, get a pat down.
If you don't want either, don't fly.
It's really quite simple.
I also have no problem with a little profiling. If you lined up every terrorist that ever tried to bomb or hijack a plane and they were all short, white, chubby dudes of German descent....well...I'd expect to get searched before every flight.
We must be doing something right, because there haven't been any airline tragedies recently attributed to terrorism...and it isn't because they don't want to.

How many airline tragedies due to terrorism were their before 911:confused: Zero:confused:

Catfish Bob, you should stay away from a Federal Building! You fit the profile of an embittered white American with an axe to grind against the government. What profile did the guys fit that blew up the building in Oklahoma City? Oh that's right, they werre exactly like you.
Tin Foil Hat's!
LOL!!:D
Come on Bob you have to admit the country has a pretty good reason to be paranoid. So maybe as a country we want too much protection at times and it goes to far (by some opinions) so we back off and go with less preventative measures and then it's not enough.
I would still rather have pat downs, dogs sniffing, electronic sniffers, profiling (), shoe checks and general security measures than nothing at all. It's your choice to fly so if you do you gotta play by the rules. JMO
I agree that some security has to exist. But also Dr.Evil, ya know where my mindset is coming from, (inside job). An just the fact that all it takes is for a bus or football stadium to blow up and they'll be wanting to put these scanners everywhere.
Don you hit the nail on the head. I think comparing this to the Holocaust is like comparing apples to Trains.
no no, ya misunderstood me. Basically asking this---since most Americans are completely brainwashed by govt propaganda on the *** tube, and through most mass media.
Does that mean future generations of foreign nations (or maybe even here) will see us the same as we see German Citizens during the time of the Holocaust? Brainwashing on a massive scale by deception of the truth.
Just me ranting after Tim called me a tin foil hat. lol

Hmmm, an axe to grind against the govt....That is the exact terminology that the media uses when demonizing the Tea Party etc,,. I've read those exact words many times before.
NO, just for the record or whatever, I have "NO AXE TO GRIND AGAINST THE GUBMENT." I'm just a pee on tax payer and voter, I know my role.
Unless you want to travel down the black hole. Don't get me started on the Ok City event :D

:eek:You don't like it don't fly. Sorry if national security hurts your feelings. Gee if I could profile there would be less crime in Louisville LOL.

It is not about my feelings its about civil liberties.
If you want to give yours up, then by all means get to the back of the bus and shut up.
Until then quit crying when people want to preserve what men died for and that make this country great.
Ignorant people will just let their god given rights go right out the window.

Muwahaaa muwahaaa:p
I'm not into an inside job idea. When the bombing took place in Oklahoma did the gubment do anything special to protect the citizens? I'm asking because I don't remember? Didn't they limit purchases or make you sign for certain chemicals? I really can't remember but my point is they didn't go crazy...IMO. I think it's because your odds of being in the wrong place at the wrong time are very low.
Now, being on an airplane where you are at the mercy of others wrong doing, any odds of getting on the wrong plane or past a certain point in the airport and getting hurt or killed by radicals needs to be reduced as much as possible. Plus airlines need to protect their passengers from folks who wish to make a name for themselves by mass murder. Plus as we saw radicals/terrorists bombings on airlines can impact our economy. For the record I'm 100% on board with racial profiling and suspicious activity profiling.
Another thought....look how many schools have scanners, lockdowns, drug dogs, onsite law enforcement, Closed Circuit Cameras, security, Access Control and other means of preventive measures. Heck Churches are going to security, CCTV and access control and they have a hard time with it because they want to welcome everyone but they have to protect the visitors and members. Daycare has security measures for the same reasons. Hospitals do as well and again for the same reasons.
The list goes on and on but my point is these are measures that have been taken to protect innocent folks from radical idiots, theives and thugs. Nothing is perfect but for one I appreciate it....plus it's part of what I do for a living.:)

The list of bombings and hijackings pre-911 is not short. The list of bombings and hijackings post-911 is significantly smaller, which tells me that something the TSA/Homeland Security/FBI is doing must be making it harder. Again, it sure isn't for lack of desire on the part of terrorists.

(1) So, men and women died to preserve our civil liberties, but they didn't die for our ability as a country to provide security to our citizens and prevent them from being being blown up on airplanes? Make sure you salute the flag and kiss the constitution right before the hijacker pushes the button. I'm so glad his civil liberties weren't infringed.
(2) There is a difference between just surrendering all of our certain inalienable rights and having the common sense to allow certain highly effective security measures at airports. I only want to worry about whether or not the pilot is in a good mood and the mechanics of the plane while I'm 30,000 feet in the air....not whether or not the dude in the 3rd row from the front on the left has C4 strapped to his ass or a .380 tucked under his sack. When on a plane, you are putting your life 100% in the hands of somebody else....you have no control....I'm a fan of security out the wazoo in those situations. If I'm in a football stadium or a shopping mall, I can run, kick, jump, duck for cover, or shoot for myself.
(3) I'm a lot of things, but ignorant aint one of em hoss!
You conspiracy theorists probably have to take a lot of Ambien to sleep! lol Go fishin!!!!

We are doing all of this so we can be politicaly correct.
WE NEED TO PROFILE.....
...
In all seriousness, I fall a bit on the other side with this one. I think the government is starting to overstep its bounds here.
I also wonder if the real reason that we're now being subjected to these scanners is because some government official's buddy has some big government contract to produce them (yes, I think our government is that corrupt)
Agree with this. I also wonder how much of this is really for show. Ie., look, we are doing all that we can. Don't they have dogs that can sniff out explosives and other stuff? Metal detectors that can find metal objects. Does a TSA grope really do better than those?
