Re: Kentucky or Barkley for Bluegill and Redear
Yeah, it's me. I get on here every now and then just to see what's going on. Mostly in the winter since I have the time.
Taking a group up to the BWCA in June. Going to Iron to base camp and fish for smallmouth. Should be fun. Going up the 11-18th. Looks like it's going to be a late spring with all the snow and cold weather they've been having.
Come see me!

MAN, that sounds FUN..........I've not been to Iron.....I'm headed to Quetico over Labor Day, probably 10 days........Kawnipi Lake.
Later,

Re: Kentucky or Barkley for Bluegill and Redear
I have fished both lakes for the past 20 years and I know this is just my opinion but I have had tremendous success on Lake Barkley recently. Like the previous poster said it gets less pressure and the bluegill and redear I have taken are not only huge in numbers but size. Free Tip: Most of our bigger fish came in the coves close to the state park. Good Luck!
I have to agree with bassman. KYL is getting too busy, plus the it seems to get the worst of whatever weather is in the area. Good fishing at each, but if it's your first time, try LB and catch some nice redear around Donaldson Creek and Ford Bay. Bring some crickets and red wigglers, light tackle, a big cooler, and Icy Hot for your elbows. Most of ALL, be safe and HAVE FUN.
Re: Kentucky or Barkley for Bluegill and Redear
I haven't fished Barkley or Kentucky. I have some friends that fish KY Lake and do good on the bluegill and shellcrackers, but seems like I may be hearing better things about Barkley as far as the bluegill/shellcracker go. I will be there in early May and trying to figure out now where to stay. I want to stay on the lake that I am fishing.
Which is better for big gills and crackers?
Are you going down with RB???AKA the "Rickster". Don't turn your back on him, He'll eat all your food and drink up your beer....GOOD LUCK.....

Slick Willy? Is that you? Get back to work!
Re: Kentucky or Barkley for Bluegill and Redear
The "RICKSTER" told me you guys couldn't catch fish out of a barrel. Said he caught all the fish and ya'll ate em.
Re: Kentucky or Barkley for Bluegill and Redear
Bass is all he knows how to catch. We don't eat those ol' stinky things. HaHa. Rick told me yesterday he told you about our trip. He's a hoot!
