Re: gun in glove box of boat
I got an idea! (Uh-ooooooh).
I'm going to carry a CROSSBOW! It's not a firearm.
And to warn people off with bad intent, I think I'll name my boat "BOBBIN-ROBIN".
Are hand grenades considered a firearm? How far can you send one of those puppies with a slingshot?
Re: gun in glove box of boat
I looked up motor vehicle today at work and I don't think a boat is covered. There maybe more info out there that would allow it but I could not find it. But, from what I could tell a boat is not a motor vehicle. The KRS that defines a motor vehicle is 186.260 (I think). As soon as I got into it the phone started to ring.
Re: gun in glove box of boat
Hey Guys I was at the Louisville Boat Show at the Ky DNR booth getting my Ky. License and I overheard a CO talking to a man that ask that very question and the answer was your boat is just like your vehicle and if you have a carry permit you are allowed to carry it in either. This CO patrols Rough,Nolin and Barren. You could always call your local State Police Post and find out. I would like to know because I live in Indiana and I've always got mine with me.
Re: gun in glove box of boat
Turns out I am wrong. It is indeed a federal crime to have a weapon on Corps Property (including the water.)

Still doesnt answer the open carry question though. Because KY Lake is TVA if i am not mistaken so doesnt fall under the Corps law, and the ohio is a whole nother story as well.
:) I'm glad that is clarified. Now the crooks that shoot me with their guns will get charged with 3 offenses, the theft, the shooting, and the carry. AAAAAH-HAH! I showed them!
