Re: Indiana earns a bid to the NCAA Tourney...
Thank you for correcting me Tim. But you just proved my point. He was ranked 50th (avg) in his class, and he turned out to be one of the top five in the NBA. Rankings are just that. Elnut....please don't compare the Big 10 to the SEC. They are the #2 or 3 conference in the country...where is the SEC???? Also, the year we got "gutted" Crean stepped in after all of the top flight guys had committed to other schools. His second year recruits (now sophmores) was ranked # 10 in the country. Obviously that ranking was a little high....but Mo Creek getting injured and missing most of two years has really hurt because he is/was the best of the bunch. We sucked this year, but only have one way to go. When the top teams lose their upperclassman and early NBA entries suddenly our team appears to be much better, especially with the addition of what we miss the most in Zeller, a big man who can score.
The rankings are "just that". I did not know this turned into a Conference vs Conference discussion. I thought it was a UK vs IU discussion. But if it must, The Big 3, I mean Big 10, is "just that" the Big 3. Wisconsin, Purdue and Ohio State are ranked in the Top 10 in the RPI and that is ALL that is ranked in the Top 50 RPI. These 3 teams can bring up a sorry overall conference ranking pretty good. SEC has 5 in the Top 40, 5 of the 6 teams in UK's division of the SEC.
IF: "When the top teams lose their upperclassman and early NBA entries suddenly our team appears to be much better, especially with the addition of what we miss the most in Zellar, a big man who can score" is what you need for your team to "appear much better". Then it is worse than I thought. Is Zeller the answer or the other teams that IU play getting worse the answer to their success? Zeller needs to be the next coming of The Diesel Shaq Daddy and the other teams in the Big 3 plus 7 better lose every good player they have before any noise is made by IU.
Re: Indiana earns a bid to the NCAA Tourney...
If Zeller's as good as you're saying he should be an easy one and doner, right?.....don't get too hyped up before he laces them up with other big guys in college basketball
No he won't be......but he is going to be that good....just not NBA ready after one year. Why would I not get hyped up...you guys do over your great recruits!

A Forrest Gump would say, "I think it's both". IU will be one year older, bigger, and better with Zeller....and as always some teams lose their top players. Those should help us be better and have a better record. Will that happen....maybe, maybe not.

I think anyone who follows sports knows that there are ups and downs. (Just look at my beloved Gators..football and basketball) The tide will turn and IU will be a top contender again and UK & UL might have different coaches and be in the rebuilding process themselves. Who knows they might be recovering from NCAA rules violations as well? Either way you IU guys will have your day!:)
This board will be lit up with IU threads digging at everyone when that happens.:p Can't wait....

Well said........and hopefully true!
Re: Indiana earns a bid to the NCAA Tourney...
I wanna go on record at saying this Cardinal junkie has not been busting Indiana's chops. My team has a history with Crean and not such a pleasant one I might add. That said I have always thought of him as a good coach and I have no hate for Indiana's program. Indiana and Louisville fans have always had kind of a mutual respect for each other. Now there are some guys like Mills who hate Louisville so bad it's not healthy, but he's not the norm on that.
Re: Indiana earns a bid to the NCAA Tourney...
I agree with Hall on his statement about IU and the Cards.....mutual respect or at least a lack of true dislike. IU and UK on the other hand.......thats true dislike! Its our turn to take one...two...three....well a bunch on the chin. However much you UK guys don't want to admit it, we WILL be back sooner than later. As I have said before, Coach Cal will burn you.....just wait and see!
Re: Indiana earns a bid to the NCAA Tourney...
Mills is the only reason I ever bust on IU. I do believe Crean will get them turned around but admit that I am suprised it has taken him this long.
All that being said, I still hate Bobby Knight and always will, but that really has nothing to do with IU.
Re: Indiana earns a bid to the NCAA Tourney...
I like busting on Mills as well. Yes I am a UK fan but not a UK fanatic. I think Coach Cal will end up getting the Big Blue on probation before it is all said and done. I posted this just to bust on Mills and my buddy Geo, who I know is an IU fan. So to stir the pot even more, Louisville, Tennessee, Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, UCLA, Big East, ACC, WAC, Big 12, Mid American, Big 10, Big 3, Big 8, Big 4, Big 6, Big 16, Big 1, Lady Vols, UCONN Womens team, Baylor's Womens Team, and every other team men, women, donkeys, horses, blind, deaf, wheelchair leagues, foreign leagues, NBA and any other team that I forgot to mention STINK and will never be as great as THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY WILDCATS!!!!
I did not want to play this card BUT:
As the current defending Fishin.com NCAA Basketball Tourney Pool CHAMPION, I know more about the game of basketball than any other person on this board. Therefore, if I say it, it must be TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hereby say that "I am an IDIOTIC BIG MOUTH SMART AZZ THAT HAS NO CLUE AS TO WHAT I SPEAK OR TYPE AND I MUST BE A KEYBOARD COMMANDO TO THE FULLEST!!!!" If I say it, it must be TRUE!!!!
Re: Indiana earns a bid to the NCAA Tourney...
Let UL and IU rekindle their rivalry by actually playing each other a few years in a row and the hate factor will be right back....Right now UL would be rolling over the Hoosiers like everybody is and the UL fans would be talking smack....I agree the Hoosiers will be back eventually, but by looking at their recruiting classes I honestly don't see it being in the next 3 years...Not trying to hate, just saying that other local schools have more talented individuals coming to their programs

Have you not looked at our 2012 class??? 2011 is small, but a very good one. Zeller is going to be a stud and is ranked as a top 5 center in the country....Etherington is 6'6 shooter who is underranked because he had to sit out most of last year with a back issue that is now ok. UK will keep getting one and doner's and never have a cohesove unit that can win big, or that their fans can remember from year to year......take that I don't want it. Are they better right now......yes.....not for long!
