Re: Adrian Peterson is an IDIOT
What just kills me is that so many sports owners, athletes, actors, etc seem ungrateful for the wonderful living they "earn" that wonderful salary is only because of the fans that support these events. You would think that somewhere in their thought processes they might consider what might happen if they lose those fans!
Without the FANS there is no money!
Thats just it noone really cares about the fans. They might say that but in reality it's about the players and owners. All the major sports strike and they still survive....It's just taken for granted they will come back.
Re: Adrian Peterson is an IDIOT
I have to agree that what A.P said was way out of line, and that these guys make waaaay to much money to ever complain. But, several of you said that the workers (players) are not what makes things go/work.....I disagree. I'm a huge Colts fan and love football in general, and I can tell you that I would not be watching the NFL or the Colts if they replace them with a bunch of washed up, not quite good enough to make it the NFL players. It would be like watching college football (which I love), but with the players getting paid. The players ARE the league. Can they do it without the owners and their stadiums??? No. But what do the owners have without the best (or any) players??? Empty seats!!!!!!!!!
I can say that without a doubt if the next round of college boys came in to take the places of select positions that it wouldn't take long to make them household names. Some might not like it but a diehard fan would find something to like and before long they would be just as true to the sport as anyone.
Who can live without football, MMA, basketball, fishing or Nascar?? :p Not me! I can live without baseball....
Re: Adrian Peterson is an IDIOT
Don, I guess I have seen too many rich owners with no problems and too many ex NFL players with medical issues that would be a 98 year old man look healthy. All for making said owners even richer than they already were. Also keep in mind these guys have very short careers and a whole bunch of them are not making all the millons that the superstars make.
Also, they tried the replacement player deal before and it failed miserably. If I want to watch a bunch of guys that don't have the ability to play at the NFL I will go to a college game. Of course if I want to watch a bunch of players getting paid well for playing football I will go to the Alabama vs. Aurburn game! :D

One thing for sure, John Calipari's checkbook is no where near as fat as Nick Saban's, Alabama Football Coach, and Auburn University, for they paid $280,000 for the services of Cam Newton. Gotta love the "AMATEUR" athletics.
