Re: Nolin at new record pool level
That's crazy. I never thought I'd see the day where you could actually fish from the motel!!
Me either.
If I had to guess I would say the water is now proabably right at the base of the motel because you can add another 5-7 ft of water to when those phots were taken since the lake is now at a 555.6 ft pool level and it was 549 ft or so then.
The 555.6 ft pool level puts the lake at 40.6 ft above summer pool.
The lake is gonna be a mess for a long, long time. Can you imagine how much debri is going to be left behind when they finally do get the lake down. Whew!!!!!
Re: Nolin at new record pool level
The wife goes over dog creek to come home from work and she said that the water is about 2 feet from going over hwy 1015.
Re: Nolin at new record pool level
Got a call from the local emergency # today saying they will probably be closiing a least a section of the road that goes over the dam tomorrow, guess it depends on how much the water continues to rise. They said it was still coming up about a inch every hour.
Decide to head up there and have a look before they closed it and took a few pics I will post them to the pic board and link to it below. I would have like to have taken a few more/better pics but there was a fairly large crowd of people at the dam ramp parking lot that looked to be from county depts, the Corps monitoring the levels and I guess trying to decide what to do so I didn't stop and get out to poke around like I would have like to.
Lake is now at 557.5 ft pool level 42.5 ft above summer pool.

Oh yeah they have yellow caution tape up stopping you from fishing at the tailwaters, that is you can drive down to the tailwaters parking lot but you just can't fish by the dam. Saw a car parked down at the boat ramp without anyone in sight so I guess he walked down the bank somewhere but if they decide to let any amount of water out of the gates his car would be under water in about 10 seconds.
