Re: LC striper fishing= management disaster !
Hey jybrd, saw the fry up pumpkin and a lot in the pockets scattered around the lake, a lot around lilly area, reson know it was bass fry as there were fish guarding them, also have seen and caught several small bass. the bass did spawn and some spawned very late, with all the small bass we have seen, looks like the spawn from the last couple years has been decent, at least for the largemouth.

I'm still out to court on this, I personally think JByrd is right, the spawn on C-land has been HORRIBLE for several years now. Smallmouth numbers are down in my opinion. The lake is in trouble and needs a couple of stable springs in a row, yea right good freaking luck with that around here, lol.
Stripers are almost gonna ahve to be managed like a new upstart lake fishery when and if they EVER get that **** dam finished............
Re: LC striper fishing= management disaster !
In a normal year, that's a valid argument. But these aren't normal. The bigger fish have taken hits the last two years. They will take a hit again this year. The very reason there are so many short fish is the lack of competition since the bigger classes have taken such a hit. The smaller fish can make it through the heat if left alone. And right now, the future years depends on those fish. I know there are a lot of people who don't want to hear this, but it's time to fish for something else. At least during the heat.
Well said, I agree.
Re: LC striper fishing= management disaster !
I to have seen lots of fry this yr, the bass had a better spawn than in the past few yrs , lots of them in the Beaver and Otter creek area, However when they pull the lake back down it will be hard on the fry with no cover.
