They ARE in some of the other lakes, along the chain of lakes that are dammed up sections of the Tenn River ... so it is "feasible" that they could have "locked thru" or survived being flushed thru the turbines. Stripers are in Ky lake.I know i caught one once and also spoke with a guide about them.Caught about a 20 incher right off the dam on the lake side.

There are certainly stripers in Kentucky lake they catch them down there all the time, ask Dave Stewart of you don't believe me.

What type lure were you trolling with? Cranks or spoons? Were you trolling on the big engine or trolling motor? Thanks!

Do people catch much while trolling? I catch a nice limit just using rooster tails and other inline spinners. While watching the KyAfield video of them trolling on T-ville, they didnt seem to be catching many, or good sized fish.

We have white bass, hybrids and pure stripers in both Ky and Barkley lakes. The stripers don't grow as large in the lakes here as they do in highland lakes but we have them. We have had a few in the 18-20 lbs class while fishing for LM and SM but most are in the 5-10 lbs class. Most folks don't target them specifically here...but they are here.

I'm gonna try Rough or Barren the next time I go trolling. But that's just gonna have to wait until it either cools off or I get a bimin top. I almost fried my bare feet changing tanks last time on my grizzly. It's unbearable right now for me. After mowing 32 yards, I don't care to be out in the heat any more....don't even like walking out my door.

Also, I'm pretty sure I need to drop some coin on some downriggers to hit those lakes mentioned above. BTW: are downriggers absolutely necessary for this?

Catfish.you dont need downriggers .Although you see alot of people using them at Barren.I have trolled Barren alot this summer and have caught them good.Sometimes real good.Here is what ive been doing on Barren this summer.
I troll either a rapala dt 16 or a fat free shad .Deep diving crankbaits.i use the shad patterns.It looks just like a gizzard shad.The rapala dives to 16 feet,the fat free 14-18 feet.i remove the rear hook.Then i tie a 4 ft leader to the rear of the crankbait.to the leader i tie on a thing called a pet spoon.Size 12 or 13.Ranger bobs has them at Barren .Im sure other shops carry it too.I have only caught one fish on the crankbait this year.They love the spoon.it is chrome with a white feather.
I let out about 100 feet of line and stick them in a rod holder.Be sure to adjust the drag on your reels,they hit pretty hard.I have 4 rod holders on my boat,but you can just hold your rod if you dont have them.If you have a partner he can hold one too.I troll at 3 mph by my gps.your speed can vary depending on wind and how many people and if the livewell has water in it.
Troll points and steep walls and around islands.Remember they are a schooling fish so if you catch one go back over the area a few more times.Take a radio because until they turn on i think its a little boring.It aint boring when they start biting though,i have had several doubles this summer.Good luck

Thanx Creekrock!! I've never hit Barren before just b/c of the downrigger issue. i have 2 uncles that swear by them so I never tried it. I have 2 holders on my boat but getting ready to mount 2 more off the transom. And yeah I found about setting the drag on my last trip. I thought my pole was gonna break before I got to it...hit a snag.
