I have been visiting since Fishin.com started. I very rarely comment or post. I posted once posted about reports of terrible fishing conditions at a lake I have fished my whole life. (I get a senior discount.) Anyway I had just left the lake and had a very good catch. I thought I would post to help others by telling what I was catching them on and the general pattern.
Well, There were 12 posts calling me a liar. Not one post thanked me or chimed in to call these A-Holes out.It is always the same posters on this and other sites that think if they cannot catch fish in harsh conditions, then no one can. I am not a guide or a pro. I have Bass fished my whole life and know a thing or two. To be called a liar by so many after a post is well,it makes you wonder if they are really fisherman.I will just sit back and read. Thanks anyway.
Why not set the site up so that you have to join before you can read and reply to the forums (i.e. smalljaw.com......)?
I don't want to keep others from receiving information, but this would be the only way to keep others from taking advantage of the site altogether. Just my 0.02.

I'm not a lurker or reader by any means and post quite frequently...Not a great fisherman but I post about what little I know....I had a pretty good day at Dale last year and posted about it, had a guy completely question what I caught....While I did have one or two step up and take my side, it kinda irritated me a little bit....Why would I tell a bold faced lie to a bunch of strangers to try and make myself look good....After thinking about it, I just kinda laughed....It's the internet and people get a little more ballsy with their comments when sitting behind a keyboard than they would face to face....You just gotta have thick skin and overlook those that don't know any better...The guy said if I had caught what I caught that I'd have pictures and this and that....Didn't say it until a couple days later but I did have pictures and did post them....He shut up
i am a reader and a lurker and a poster when i have questions... and i have to say that they are answered fully! i dont have much to say about others post as far as fishing goes i'm still learning quite a bit my self and learning alot from this site!!
thanks to everyone for all there help and this great site!
My sentiments about this exceptional resource align well with DJD. Have met a lot of cool folks and gotten tons of great advice from folks on this site. Have three brothers so I have never really cared much about what haters have to say. Thank you Peter, especially for the fly fishing forum, and all you guys who have helped me out. If anything I have ever posted has helped any of you guys, you are welcome.
I also love this site and am learning alot. I don't post alot myself because I really know so little about bass fishing. But do love being able to come and post a question and get so much good info!
I still lurk around these parts, just wish I had time to hit the water so I could help someone out.

The guys who called you a liar for what you posted would have been better advised to keep their thoughts to themselves as any fisherman well knows if he has been fishing for any length of time that it isn't out of the ordinary for one fisherman's tactics to work while another's may not... Having said that, when I first started fishing the lakes some years ago, It wasn't uncommon for some of the guys with the big egos to downright lie to you... I ran across one of these fellas at a lake and he pulled 3 good size bass out of his livewell (one at a time) I never paid any attn that they happened to be the same size... Later I found out from another fella that he had caught only one fish that day so guys will tell you a tale now and then... You shouldn't judge everybody by the actions of a few and you shouldn't let those few with a bruised ego stop you from enjoying this site... If you enjoy fishing this is a good place to share some of your experiences and sometimes pick up a pointer or two.

Very well put
I've post some, but not nearly as often as I read. Here's the summary of most posts I have neglected to send: "I haven't had time to fish nearly as much as I wish I could lately" or "I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!" Lol! Many thanks to Peter and Dave Stewart for operating a great board.
