Thanks Bugsy for the link as this was really funny and I loved the difference in the accents. I recognized Jeff Foxworthy cuz he does the redneck jokes which are really funny but he is loosing his accent hanging out there in California doing that tv show now. I didnt know the other fellows but the guy on the left fits what I think of a redneck. They were all great and when it was over I clicked on another video of the 4 of them sitting on stage again and Ron White tells a story about being drunk in public and that one was so funny. Good stuff. Loved it.:D
Devil Horse, you should take your wife for a cruise around Hermitage Springs, TN. Those people have their own dialect. They use words that confuse the heck out of me. For instance, they say kids are fittin' when they are fighting; they call glass jars "cans;" things will b-ah-ite; gravel 'taters when they dig potatoes; 'grub broars' instead of digging up briers; will call a person a 'sumbitch' if they don't like them; and will ask 'whatchamedabout?" They put tars on their coar and build fars in the stove.
Might have to take her to the sprangs someday. She's a Yankee, but she loves the south and our ways. Where she's from if your car breaks down, you get family member or a wrecker. Where I'm from the first car that comes along will pull over and help you out.
When I took her to my hometown of Roanoke, Al, we're riding down the country road Mama lives on and most every car we met waved or threw up a finger to say hi. Second or third time it happened, she asked me do you know all those people? Nah Honey, that's just how it is down here.
Another big difference is food. At home it is not rude to go into a close friend or relative's house unannounced and tell them you're hungry. Most likely they're going to try and feed you anyway, so you won't need to ask. We were on our way from Mama's to one of my sister's, and my wife told me we needed to stop off and get something to eat. I told her we'd be at my sister's house in a few minutes and eat there. She said good grief honey, you can't just go to somebody's house and eat. I laughed, but she made me promise I wouldn't be rude enough to do that. After hugging everyone's neck my first words were what y'all go to eat, we're bout to starve.
