(Ward is a parish, a “stake” is a diocese- they took catholic organizational ideas when developing the organization of the Mormon church). If they do not show pay stubs to check their tithing they can be excommunicated.

6. The Mormon’s are very focused on developing networks- they hire only Mormons when they are in a position to hire, they trade amongst themselves including homes-and they have their own financing network. They offer low interest or interest free mortgages to members, also they subsidize college tuition for members going to Brigham Young Univ.

7. Much of the Super Pac money supporting Romney is coming from the Mormon church. The Mormon “church” is a cult, and a very, very clever one. Most of the male members of the church are encouraged to pursue higher educational degrees and public policy positions.

Oh and I am not saying these things because I am a fan of Romney's which I am not! I can say that this is not true because my wife and I are both Mormon.

You are mistaken on this one bug. All Mormon missionaries are volunteers. The youth work and save as they grow up for a mission that last 2 years. And they only do this if they want.

1. I wish, the world would be a much better place. From LDS.org: 136 Operating (3 Under Renovation), 15 Under Construction, 15 Announced in the world. Are there only 166 high schools in the America?

2. Wrong. In some places in the west where we can, seminary is offered as a elective class, (religion class) where a course of scripture is studied. Seminary in most of the US takes place before the school day starts, usually starting around 5:30 to 6:00am, most generally at the church or at someones home. I have great respect for the teenagers that do attend these classes, as it requires great dedication.Temples classes are not included in the seminary program.

3. We are not encouraged or discouraged.

4. Utah does have the highest concentration of members, I think, but according to what I could find online they are tied with our Kentucky at #11 for suicides.

5. That one is funny. While we do tithe at 10%, it is not checked against pay stubs or anything like that. It is up to an individual whether or not they want to be a full tithe payer and is a personal and independent decision.

That is false...Mormons are NOT required to serve missions, they CHOOSE to serve missions. You must be thinking of Jehova Witnesses. Missionaries choose to serve the church for two years (boys), or 1.5 yrs (girls)....they wear church clothing (dress shirts, slacks, ties, etc.), and either travel by bicycle, walking, or cars. It is a COMPLETELY elective thing to do, and is in NO way forced upon anyone in the Mormon church. I should know, I served an LDS mission in Monterrey, Mexico over ten years ago.

Unlikely story as LDS missionaries enter into homes and talk to hundreds of people a month. They are educated in the church, and have discussions that they share with all those willing to listen. I find it very hard to believe that they would sit silent in your home...very hard.

I didn't intend to stir the pot when starting this thread...if you'll read my original post you'll see [U]I have no idea at all about the Mormon religeon[/U]. I copy clipped the info provided to me straight from an email sent to me and pasted in my original post. Now I will have something to show the person who sent the information to me.

I apreciate everyone's input. Now...as far as Romney is concerned...there's just something about that guy that rubs me the wrong way, for some reason I get the feeling that I can't trust him as far as I can throw him, maybe it's because he's a politician (they all tend to make me feel this way now days it seems). I really do hope he's not the republican choice. However...whoever the republican nominee turns out to be, I will NOT be voting for NObama, I didn't vote for him in 2008, nor will I vote for him in 2012.
