WAS the bridge built?? NO....
WAS 50 billion given to GM?? YES........
And 386 million is CHUMP CHANGE to 50 billion......Lets look at it a little differently.
$ 386,000,000
or
$ 50,000,000,000
Yea.......that is a pretty big ASS number.......
Repaid relatively quickly........RIGHT.....A debt-for-equity swap is not a repayment.
For the RECORD....

I reread your post. Why is a debt for equity swap not a repayment? I dont know of any bank that will loan money without equity and we got it in stock from GM.;) What is your point?:confused: They are profitible and thousands still have a good paying job.:D Would you like to know anything else that FOX NEWS has not told you?:)
Re: GM to shut VOLT production down......fire 1300 people.
There will be a economical safe electric car soon. It will be built in either germany or japan, why? because they are more dependent on oil imports. Also the coming collapse of the american primary education system will bring the shortage of engineers to critical mass. They are not as beholding to the big energy companys, because they have little of it.

The federal government didn't borrow billions and give it to those who developed the horseless carriage.
At that time the Federal Government did not take trillions and give it to Wall Street executives and Banks either. In the Great Depression the government did not bailout a single bank and the entiere economy crashed. Yes there were thousands upon thousands homeless and unempolyed .
Guess they learned a little something from history. G.W. Bush called on congress to act and appropreate funds to address the imminent colapse of banking industry.
Obama called on congress to act and save US jobs.
As far as the Volt is concerned the Volt production was not the reason for GM's problems. It was the last gas gouge and poor sales of gas fuel cars!!
So they are investing in alternative energy technology. Yea it may not help the bottom line right now, but it also is not the cause for company failures nor is it a risky investment.I would give them a medal for corperate valor.
The new liquid battery development will change the way we use and create energy. It enables us to store tremendous amounts of energy rather than to generate electricity on a peak demand basis.
BINGO!

They also did nothing to stop the great depression.
So in WWII we converted most all of our factories to war materials production. Chrysler made jeeps, Ford made jeeps, catipillar made tanks.
When all of our factories are closed do you really think China is going to sell us tanks, planes and missles (on credit) when we have to defend ourselves from North Korean wackos???
Get real people, start supporting you neighbors and country for a change.

Right wing Conservative dirty water flows downhill, just as does Left wing Liberal dirty water. But sometimes, Moderate water forms a stable pool!! :D:D
There are Electric Cars???? So when I don't pay my Electric Bill and they cut off my electric, if my Car is not charged, how will I get to the Electric Company to pay the bill so I can charge my car?
:)
1. Snail mail.
2. Late at night, long extension cord to neighbors outside receptacle. My neighbor charges a lot of trolling motor batteries.....too bad he doesn't own a boat. :)

Sounds like it was pretty spread around. Today, Abrams = General Dynamics, Bradley = BAE Systems Land and Armaments, formerly United Defense. (B stands for British). HMMWV = AM General.
There are no government owned factories that build us ground combat vehicles, they are all privately owned corporations doing business with the govt.
Just watched a commercial on the Chevy Volt like it was the pride of Detroit??? Oh well maybe Detroit is a foreign country after all?? They haven't heard the news yet?!?!?
:) In that whole commercial, I didn't see a Volt towing a bass boat, or even a jon boat.....not even a U-haul....not even a golf cart.

I think you missed the point being made completely.
No where is it stated any company was owned by the fereral government.
The point is that the US had a healthy manufactoring base in place during WWII.
These factories were there to produce military equipment.
So today we are moving manufactoring to Mexico, China etc. How would we be able to supply US military with China factories.

Seems to me the fact that politicians make decisions that almost force us to buy foreign made products, they sleep with the unions and they side with corruption in business kinda makes it their fault.
The buy American mantra is old news. Maybe in the 80's?? But not now. Now we need leaders who put us back to equal ground or above the foreign companies we do business with. I'm not gonna blame any tax paying American for our situation. I'm gonna blame politicians because they made the decisions or had a hand in it. I'm just trying to survive within the rules they place on us....so are millions of others that wake up get dressed and go to work.
