Re: Sympsons Lake in Bardstown
If sympson is now a {fins} lake they should not be able to charge for a permit to fish it because as far as i know they dont require a permit to fish any other fins lakes. Can any body verify that its one of the {fins} lakes ???
Just to fish it you don't need a permit. The permit only applies to boats...think those fees pay for maintenance on boat ramp.
Re: Sympsons Lake in Bardstown
Yeah that was who it was last name was Stevenson. Yeah you just need a permit to put a boat in. The money doesn't pay for upkeep on the boat ramp I can tell ya that cause it's horrible. Honestly I think they do the permit thing to keep pleasure boaters off of it since its not very big. They know that mostly fisherman will be the only ones to pay the fee to put a boat in.
Re: Sympsons Lake in Bardstown

Have they ever put any money back into the ramp?
Re: Sympsons Lake in Bardstown
I could make a list much longer than I care to type about why not to fish there. But I think the biggest one for me is that there have been several times I show up to fish it and find I can put the boat in but won't have a place to park. I don't miss the lake. I would rather fish Taylorsville.

I have the Fishing & Boating Guide in front of me and Sympson Lake is NOT listed as a FINS lake for 2012. Nelson County is represented, however, by Bloomfield Park Lake.
Another point to note (according to the guide) is that there is a 15" size limit on largemouths on Sympson Lake.
