Re: Lookin for an alternative lake
I agree with the last reply. Don't cancel your trip to ky lake just yet. There are so many coves of all sizes on both lakes for you to stay off of the main lake. Many of the coves have ramps. You could do more trailoring on the roads instead of running the big waters. We have done this when it is extremely windy plenty of times.
Re: Lookin for an alternative lake
I'll agree with the last two posts.. Ky is such an excellent fishery. We launched out of Sugar Bay last weekend. You could fish that Bay for a week if you wanted to. The ramp is adequate, and like everyone else said, you don't even have to get out in the main channel.

Re: Lookin for an alternative lake
If it doesnt have to be in KY I would check out Patoka Lake in Indiana. plenty of lodging around the lake and also numerous activities to do 20 minutes north in French Lick for the kids. Also the fishing isnt that bad if you just find some brushpiles or laydowns. crappie and bluegill are in large numbers.
Re: Lookin for an alternative lake
Thanks to all of your suggestions. I think we are gonna go ahead and go to Ky Lake and try Jonathan and some blood river areas. The kids had such a ball last year. They were kinda aggravated when they thought we wouldn't go there. As long as I can idle around and the water isn't to rough should be ok. Thx again and I will post how we did when we get back. Fish On

I think it is a good decision. Is this bridge open at Kenlake to Barkley? There are a lot of large cove areas there also to fish.
