BTW.......I'd post from MSNBC CNN or any other additional news station...IF they'd run the information.
AND yea, you gotta love stations like ABC....Didn't they actually doctor the Martin/Zimmerman tapes to make Zimmerman look like a RACIST. Oh, and didn't CBS have to FIRE Dan Rather for doctoring documents about George Bush.......
AND lets not forget.......didn't MSNBC have to fire OBERPUKE.
Maybe, just maybe someone.....ANYONE will just report the freakin news. Fox isn't there, but they are a whole lot closer than the rest.

Good!! This is crap. Folks want to defend the teachers? Have we lost the real meaning of their jobs? Teaching?!?!?!?! This lady either had a detention class going or as it appears had little control over the students. Granted it's been along time since I was in High School but I don't remember having this kind of freedom.
The clock is ticking before Al Sharpton steps in!! This is a very clear case of racial profiling and one day it will stop! Come on Rev where ya at?? The woman needs your help to muddy the water with your garbage so she can keep her job and continue pushing these quality students to the top!!:rolleyes:
Re: We REALLY need to clean house in Education
I figured I would chime in since I was active in this thread.
"Effective today, Tanya Dixon-Neely has been suspended with pay while a thorough investigation is being conducted," school officials told WBTV when asked about Dixon-Neely's status.
Now that this has gone viral, they really have little choice but to hold an investigation. When they do, and they are able to look at the all the facts, if the conclude she is unqualified I hope they do fire her. If they find she is a good teacher, who lost her cool, I hope she learns a valuable lesson, but not her job.
I am conservative and I am certain I don't agree with her politics, but I also don't like the trend in this country towards quick to judgement from one small piece of video which often is taken out of context. I have had this exact same debate with liberals who often too quickly call for policemen to be fired or even sent to prison because of a two minuet video showing them responding to a situation, but not what preceded it.
Once again to be clear, and I have said all along, she could very well be guilty of all everyone is accusing her of. My point was that I couldn't hear enough from the tape that I think it would be fair to say with certainty she should be fired. That is and should be up to people who can gather more facts and make a more balanced decision.
Hey I probably feel stronger about the harms of the teachers union then most people (see my earlier post about how I feel about them). And I also agree with just how bad the education system has become in this country. So much so that my wife and I choose to home school our two young children. So I am far from a liberal or school system defender. I just like to be fair with peoples lives regardless if they agree with me or not. And firing someone exclusively from the evidence a short tape orchestrated by a punky kid trying to bait her into putting her foot in her mouth instead of looking at the body of her work seems knee jerk reactionary and unfair. I personally don't want to be part of the trend of rushing to judgment that I think is hurting this country whether it is a policeman, Zimmerman, or this teacher. I am a believer in waiting for all the facts before forming a snap conclusion.
I thought this part of the article sums up this situation pretty well.

The Rowan-Salisbury School System expects all students and employees to be respectful in the school environment and for all teachers to maintain their professionalism in the classroom," a statement from the school system stated on Friday. "This incident should serve as an education for all teachers to stop and reflect on their interaction with students. Due to personnel and student confidentiality, we cannot discuss the matter publicly."
School board member Kay Wright Norman calls the incident "unfortunate." She says that educators have an obligation to speak fact. Norman feels the teacher was baited from the beginning but said a teacher can't let let personal interest interfere with classroom discussions.
Several students at the school Monday defended Ms. Dixon-Neely by saying she is a "good teacher" who "cares about her students." Others say the issue is being blown out of proportion.
"It tends to be a one-way conversation in certain classrooms. And if America is going to have a dialogue on politics, it really needs to be a two-way discussion," Rowan County resident Vernon Shurtz said.
"He was wrong for setting her up like that, he could have just went in and talked to her," Student Desmond Turner said.
Re: We REALLY need to clean house in Education
With all due respect I'm not as tolerant as you SLP nor do I give rip when it comes to blacks defending our potus. That voting group lost my respect long ago by supporting this guy just because he is half black with little to no regard to his politics. Actually, many probably voted for him due to his Liberal views on providing folks with assistance when they should be doing for themselves.
Sorry but my feeling is she has bashed Bush and many other white presidents through her years so why the love and defensive tone for the present potus? IMO it's because he is half black. I won't pretend to be open minded about that opinion because I feel race is one subject that folks dance around like the plague (in public)when in fact that does more harm than good. Tell it like it is! People want fair? Then stop the special treatment mandated by the fools in office who are just pandering for votes.
Back to my point....I have seen many examples and listened to hours of examples from my sister, two cousins and friends who are teachers about the disfunction in the educational system. It always comes back to the board of education be it local or federal, money and lack of accountability. IMO...Teachers who have been in long enough to get that tag of "Tenure" can be dangerous since they get a thick protective bubble around them and can do alot of harm with no discipline. When the profession of teaching is being dictated by folks who are politically motivated the system is broke.
I don't need another example like this one to know that many teachers are slack and possibly just fed up with the system so they do their time and look for that check. Sure there are good and exceptional teachers but they are not the ones talked about and IMO they probably get beat down eventually. At times I work in schools from K-12 as a contractor and hear/see things that shock me! Kids in class that can't speak english, kids in class that are disrescpectful beyond belief and just a general lack of respect for others. You can hardly say anything to these kids without the parents getting sideways and causing a stink because little Johnny had his feeling hurt. It's sad.
Maybe this lady is just guilty of bad manners, sorry communications skills, inability to control a classroom and as it appears breaking the school rules. With that being said she does have some issues and when there is smoke there is fire so my guess based on the things I have heard and read she does need to be dealt with. Fired? Probably not but educated in what she is supposed to do? YES! I don't know how they deal with stuff like this but my guess is she will not get much in the way of discipline.
Notice IMO, her potential punishment has nothing to do with her being black it had to do with her strong personal opinion and lack of teaching skills. I even wonder if she is an actual teacher? Man that was a terrible example of a teacher for that school system. Geez I would be pissed off if thats what my kids get at school every day.
