Excellent. Yeah Don the very few times I eat McD's I always look and see what is made and order that. You never know who is making your food. I don't eat out much at work but when I do It is only a few places that I know the owner or the cooks. I know that they are not going to do anything to my meal.
With all of that I am eating at Chick-Fil-A on Wednesday.

I don't really care what the president of Chick-fil-A thinks about gay marriage or any other issue. I'm sure there are plenty of corporate executives at companies I patronize regularly who hold views that I find just as wrong-headed as his, and I don't really care. If it were just HIM expressing HIS views, it would be a non-issue. Patronizing a businesses has never meant I supported their politics. But Dan Cathy took the extra step, and made his personal opposition to gay marriage (the generation that supports it has an "arrogant attitude") the official company position, thus marrying his personal views to his restaurant business. Now, to be honest, I only ate at Chick-fil-A once, didn't much care for it, and haven't been back. So I can say I won't be going there but it doesn't really mean much.
All that said, you are absolutely right, it is WRONG for any government body to be using Chick-fil-A's stand on this issue as a basis for denying them any form of permit or license, or anything of the sort. Unconstitutional, in fact. It's not like Chick-fil-A is wanting to discriminate against gays, at least not that I'm aware. Personally, I think this was just posturing by these two mayors. They have to know that they have no legal grounds to deny any permits.
I really don't understand the big hullabaloo over this deal.
So, the owners of Chick-Fil-A, who are Christians and operate on a foundation of Christian principles, oppose gay marriage. There's a newsflash. Big deal. A lot of businesses are ran by people who are Christian and don't believe in gay marriage. A lot of businesses are also ran by those who are in favor of gay marriage. What does it matter? People boycotting Chick-Fil-A over an owner's beliefs as a Christian are just dumb.
To me, it's a completely irrelevant non-issue until someone is denied a chicken sandwich at the register because they support gay marriage. When Alice walks in with her flannel shirt unbuttoned just enough that you can see her rainbow tee-shirt and is told to hit the door, because "we don't serve your kind here," then holler back at me...that stuff gets real. That's just discrimination and bigotry and it's wrong. Until then, it's all bunch of mouth-diarrhea to me.
From a purely business perspective, I think the leader of Chick-Fil-A is an idiot. They make chicken sandwiches. In my opinion, they should stick to making chicken sandwiches instead of trying to preach to me about what's right and what's wrong. He has his principles and likes to be vocal about them...well, good for him. But, as a business leader it's not real smart to piss all over a big part of your customer base (those who believe in gay marriage) with these comments that are not related to business and give groups a reason to not like you, unless you've decided that you don't want their business. In such case, you should probably get out of the trying-to-make-money business and open a church for God's sake. I don't have to like you or agree with how you live your life to sell you a product, take your money, and make a profit that helps support my employees and family and church. Dude needs to shut his chicken-chomper, in my opinion, unless he wants to sell less chicken.
Actually sales are up for Chick filet. Maybe he's a shrewd businessman after all. I could care less because I don't eat there. It seems to be the thing to do at work because now they have special chick filet runs and take orders from all employees.

I'm just trying to understand why freedom of speech and right to practice your beliefs only belongs to minorities and sexual deviates?

Good point...
What's the old saying - "Any publicity is good publicity."
Lord knows Chick-Fil-A has been in the news enough with this stuff.

I didn't want to visit either one of those Cess pool crap holes before now I know I'll never go there, lol...

But Chicago is the home of our President...that's not enough to make you want to go there? I'll bet they even do bus tours now showing you where he lived, where he ate lunch, and showing you all of those communities that he organized.
Man, I'd enjoy that...if for no other reason than to sit in the back of the bus and heckle the hell out of some spectators. ;)

Hey Brian, I wonder if everwhere you just mentioned has a sign that say's..
''Barack built this''
-
Don't know if anyone pointed it out, but this came from an interview. He was asked the question and responded honestly. It's not like he went to the media and said 'Hey this is how I feel. Go tell everybody.' He is the big dog for the company and is of a Christian background and has an opinion. So what. So do I. Ever heard of Sodom and Gomorrah? Pretty sure marriage is considered a religious institution and should be respected that way. Regardless of how the media, you, Dan Cathy, Joe the plumber or I feel about it, what does it have to do with a chicken sandwich?

That's easy! The media, politicians and the new welfare attitude of taking care of everyone with everyone is equal has gone nuts!
By pushing their agenda in your face they set you back on your heels. At this point you either agree or disagree and be called names or get setup for a boycott.
