GM is still alive (along with a number of other companies that supplied parts), Osama is not.

CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- The Treasury Department is resisting General Motors' push for the government to sell off its stake in the automobile maker, The Wall Street Journal reports. Following a $50 billion bailout in 2009, the U.S. taxpayers now own almost 27% of the company. But the newspaper said GM executives are now chafing at that, saying it hurts the company's reputation and its ability to attract top talent due to pay restrictions. Earlier this year, GM (NYSE:GM) presented a plan to repurchase 200 million of the 500 million shares the U.S. holds with the balance being sold via a public offering. But officials at the Treasury Department were not interested, as selling now would lead to a multibillion-dollar loss for the government, the newspaper noted.

See how appreciative GM is of the bailout?

Well it was good to see someone try and put some positives about Obama, and I can actually make a case for a few, not many but a few.
Why will I vote for Romney you ask? Quite simple really. He believes in Capitalism and the free market as I have always bought into to. He does not believe in giving my hard earned dollars away to people that won't work. He will support our military much better than Obama and not cut their benefits everytime he needs money...........Yes that is speculation I understand but believe it will go this way. I like his stance on immigration and playing tough with radical Islam, instead of bowing to them and kissing their dirty feet. On that note I feel he would be heads and above better at global affairs. He also will advance energy options here at home to help ease costs of fossil fuels, ect. Again speculation but I believe he will.
I have more but won't bore you, but my number one and foremost reason is his business background. He has ran many companies and very successfully on most. Obama has never ran a flippin Lemonade stand and he's the President, that is laughable. He even skiped most important votes when he was senator and doesn't have time to meet with key people to help protect us and run this country now. Why, because he's to busy on the ''Love Me'' tour with his George Jefferson strut. He dissed Netanyahu to chuck it up with gap toothed Letterman and roll phat with Beyonce and JayZ, are you serious..............
And the crowd cheers....Obama Obama Obama Obama Obama......

For me personally...strike one against Obama is he came out and said he fully supports gay marriage. This goes hugely against the grain with me. No gay has ever done anything to me, I do not dislike people because they are gay, although I will openly admit that when I see two guys kissing in a public venue it does tend to make me sick to my stomach. BUt anyway...supporting gay marriage in the eye's of the church, God, family and everyone else is just wrong...call it a joint union of two people or something, but it ain't marriage. Honestly...this for me is the one and only true strike against him for me, there are others but this one hits home with me the hardest.

People can say Obama saved Chrysler and GM, but I'm not 100% sold on that way of thinking. How do we know these two companies would have collapsed if the government didn't step in? And....they're companies...companies do fail occassionally, this is the reality of business. I don't think government should be stepping in to provide aid for a company who's owner's don't know how to keep their company afloat, regardless of how long they've been in business.
And...when Obama started out it was all about bail out money and stimulous packages. Hind-sight is 20/20 but hind-sight on all that for me was all that was nothing more than a band-aid. And...just last week I heard the economy is showing signs of slipping/failing so the fed's are gonna begin selling 40 million dollars worth of bonds per month...40 million per month, for how many months I do not know. But, once again..all because they're hoping to give an economic boost...which once again, appears to me to be yet another band-aid.
-
Infrastructure was supposed to be taken care of through one of the many stimulus packages. Shovel ready was'nt as shovel ready as we thought, a duffus politician once said as he was laughing. That is my money he is laughing about wasting. As far as the the other band aid measures, they are a sign of a very bad economy that just added trillions more to the debt. You can't just throw money on issues to correct them, just look at our department of education. More wasted money. Oh and companies go bankrupt all the time. I worked for a company that filed chapter 11, 13 and I can't remember how many others and I still worked. The problem is that there are unions involved and he couldn't let them get layoffs. When a company files bankruptcy, they have to show to those that are giving them money(thats you and me in the car bailouts) that they are serious about getting things under control so they can be profitable again. That means cutting the fat. There is no fat as far as unions are concerned and will fight layoffs. Now the unions are part owners. LOL, that will teach them because now they have to deal with themselves. Oh and how is that Volt doing these days. Is that right, they are stopping production because no one wants it. HUH, imagine that. We need to get our governments nose out of every aspect of our lives. Let thangs take their course. I wonder if we would have light bulbs if the government was involved. Oh thats right, our government are telling us what kind of light bulbs we can use now. Yes we need more government in our lives.
And we WONDER how the hell we're 16 trillion dollars in debt.
Yep........all wonderful things.........without a single freakin penny to pay for it.
When there is rioting in the streets like Greece and the rest of our financial markets collapse, AND you're on the corner begging for a piece of bread.........Remember all these WONDERFUL things Obama did for you.
REMEMBER IT.
Later,
Geo
I new it was a wast of time, stating anything good the President did. most of you guys on here are so BITTER over having Obama as President. that it has closed your OPENED minded view of things. you say NOT a single penny to pay for any of the things he did.
when he signed for equal pay for women, will that not bring more tax dollars in from the million's of women workers.
stopping the tax holiday, when the company's that moved their jobs overseas and made BILLIONS. will pay tax on it when they bring it back to the USA.
cutting wasteful defense spending, the USA spends more on weapons of war. than China, Russia, Germany, Japan all combined. the cuts will be money saved, have you ever heard the saying, a penny saved is a penny earned.
stopped the wasteful war in Iraq, again a penny saved is a penny earned.
Infrastructure funding means more jobs, building a better USA and taking in tax dollars.
keeping young kids on parents insurance, will mean a health'er young work force.
these kind of things the President is doing, will be the very thing that will keep you from standing on a corner begging for bread crumbs.
how can you not see a penny coming in from these changes the President has made? HOW?
and these are a few of the reasons millions of Americans that have Compassion for the middle class and less fortunate will vote for Obama.

I'm not bitter, I'm very very worried about the future.........16 Trillion.........you understand that right. My daughter, her daughter, her daughters daughter, will NEVER be able to pay of that debt.
It is so high that people like YOU simply don't understand after you get past 3 zeros.
Sorry, but until we tackle the debt, HOWEVER we do that, we're in dire straits.
I would not call myself an "Obama lover". But a few things he has done that you might approve.
Assisted in preventing the total collapse of the economic system.
GM is still alive (along with a number of other companies that supplied parts), Osama is not.
Hitting Al Queda in Yeman and other places (such as Pakastan).
Since pulling out of Iraq, more resources have gone to fighting Al Queda in Afganistan and neighboring Pakistan. Also some help from Pakistan in the border area.
Increased Support for Veterans: $$ for college, tax insentives for businesses to hire veterans.
Tightened Sanctions on Iran. Latest reports suggest that they are having an effect.
Provided support for rebels who ousted Gaddafi in Libia.
So, to the Romney lovers, what reasons would you give to vote for him?
Andrew
I disagree he assisted in preventing the collapse of the economic system. He and the Pelosi/Reid dynamic duo rammed through a 900 billion spending bill without even letting the opposition read it. By any standard that makes economic sense, that bill has been a dismal failure.
The afforemetioned team also rammed through the so called 'affordable health care' bill, which aside from costing trillions, will eventually hurt medicare, and of course put the feds even deeper into our lives.
He did say yes to our military when they got Obama in their sights. I believe he was probably forced to do so, if word got out he'd refused permission, the polls he governs by would have plummeted. No way he'd go for that.
Reports on sanctions against Iran having an effect are hard to believe, especially if they're from the mass media, which is the propaganda arm of the Obama administration. Iran would be way further along in their nuclear program if it weren't for Israel.
Mr Obama's middle east policies are self evident. Turn on the TV and watch the American flag being burned in the streets of some 25 countries over there. Maybe if he went over and kow towed some more they'd like us better.
The federal government (or ANY government) buying stock in a private company should be 100% illegal, regardless of the circumstances. This is one of the many dangerous big government moves the President has made.
Any presidential administration who racks up deficit spending and debt at the rate this one has NEEDS to be gone. Throw in the terrible long term economic damage of printing money by the billions, and common sense tells us the United States cannot afford Mr. Obama. You could debate the other points till your face turned blue but this simple fact is incontrovertible.
The reason I'm a so called Romney lover is he's not Barack Obama.
We ARE THE MIDDLE CLASS DUDE, do you think we are rich or something, LOL.....
No, I don't think anyone on here is rich. I don't see where you would think, I thought you were rich. I said millions would vote for Obama because he had compassion for the middle class and the very poor. I don't think every middle class voter will vote for him, but million's will.
