Decent, cheap spinning reel recommendations?

I love my President. I think you would be very satisfied with one.

I've had a few of the lower end shimanos in your price range and they havent lasted. The bail spring always goes bad and im a shimano guy. I have pflueger president i use to beat around with and couldn't be any happier and i wouldnt hesitate to buy another for that price point

I bought one President (my only Pflueger purchase) and it is very smooth, but the anti-reverse has been faulty (slips) since I got it. I called Pure Fishing and they were very nice and sent me a new antireverse spring (the one I had appeared slightly deformed). I installed the new one and it helped just a bit, but it is still not right.

Very smooth reels, but not the quality of Shimano IMO.

I know it was probably an anomaly but I wont be buying Pflueger again.

Right now you can get a Shimano Sahara 2500 from Cabellas for about $50.

I agree with going with the President and I have it on a St. Croix Rage rod. Awesome setup.
