p.s. this type of fishing isnt new, parts of the lake looked like a lit up city back in the 70s, there would literally be 40-50 boats within sight of the dam/indian creek/ rowena. all with lanterns hung over the side fishing for whitebass and crappie. and it doesnt matter which end of the lake, i am on the jamestown end of the lake, but i have buddies that catch as many fish (actually alot more walleye) on the somerset end. as a matter of fact my next nite lite trip will be to cumberland point monday night. walleye pictures arent near as tasty as the actuall fillet !

We fished near the Jamestown area. The first night we fished all night. The second night we switched spots and set up on a wall area on the main lake (like everyone else the first night was doing). LOL, we should have stuck w/ stipernuts advise and stayed in the mouth of the creek.
We didn't miss many bites. They hit anywhere from about 10' to the bottom. I don't know if the second night was not as good due to location or the bite was just not "on". Almost 1/2 the crappie caught were in the 13-14" range.

I fished the lake this past weekend but was down by Fishing Creek. I was trying out a green light I had on my boat but despite hundreds of minnows swimming around I had no luck at all. At dawn I switched to trolling for stripers. We limited out by 10am, with the biggest being 27 inches. Sunday morning we were back trolling again and limited out by 10:30am. It was good weekend for stripers and there are still plenty of them near Fishing Creek this time of year. The water was 82 to 83 degrees.

What were you trolling with Adam? And how deep were most of the fish? I hope to go back down next week and not sure what I want to try for.

I was trolling shiners. My fish finder was showing surface clutter down 30 to 40 feet making it hard to read but it appeared the active fish were between 20 to 30 feet. The first day most of the hits came around 25 feet deep. The second day it was closer to 20 feet deep. The last hit of the day came around 10:30am with full sun over head and it hit a shiner at only 15 feet. I've never seen them hit that shallow, in warm water, and with direct sun.
Had I checked my bait I'm sure I could have limited out earlier. I baited the lines at 5:30 and replaced the shiners on the lines that got hit. We had 3 by 8:30 and I was out of bait. At 10:30 when I pulled in all my lines I had two dead shiners and everything else was empty hooks. I was running 3 plainer boards on each side a balloon rig and a couple down rods.
