If you have a fuel supplier in your area, you might check with them as many suppliers carry ethanol free and will sell to the public.

You could always add a water/fuel separator between the gas tank & engine !!

Depending on which engine he has, this might not be a good idea.

How come. I was advised to install one and did.

on yammies (HPDI and SHO), as well as etecs, it is a very good idea to have one. On a Merc optimax, not so much. Can cause fuel restriction and lean conditions.

I did say he "could" put a fuel/water separator on ... not that he "should" !!
Seems that some Merc engines already have a "filter" & don't recommend adding any more "in-line" filters, for the very reasons that Steve has stated. Good catch, Steve !!

Thanks. Had no idea...some good idea some not.
Leave it up to Mercury to make it difficult haha. But their filter is more than enough, unless you know water has gotten into the tank.

I didn't mean to imply you were trying to give him bad advice. If it weren't for the optimax series, we could just about all run them
