i am finished with BPS....every time i tried to save money it has ended up costing me money, i do not have positive results with BPS rods or reels. so now i just go ahead and purchase abu garcia revo baitcasters and put them on garcia rods or g loomis rods. i use pfleuger spinning reels with berkely shock rods. and for striper fishing okuma linecounters on ugly stik striper stiks. none of this equipment has EVER failed me, it performs under some very demanding , very high usage conditions (for future reference u should never buy used equipment from me....it is all VERY used lol). so when i look at the performance and durability the initial money invested over time ends up being a huge savings in terms of "zero time lost" due to malfunctioning equipment.
p.s. every BPS associate i haver dealt with has been extremely pleasant, very proffessional and very helpful. however i just have little confidence replacing an item that had catastrophic failure with the same item.
i hope you have better performance and service in the future.....good luck

Chris at reelcleen just did a repair and bearing upgrade for me on a BPS Johnny Mo reel. The reel was sticking when cast and I decided to have him install new orange boca bearings. I got it back last week and it casts like a dream.
This fall I'm sending him a couple of my Shimano Curados for cleaning and new bearings.
He knows what he's doing, great pricing and quick turn around.
Check out his web site and if you haven't figured out what to do with your reel give him a call, you won't be sorry.

Thanks again for the input everyone. I'm going to try to contact Chris when the work week comes around. Again I wasnt expecting a free replacement or a free fix. But, it did bother me that they had the equipment to fix the reel on hand but wouldnt touch it unless it was under warranty. Dont understand at all how that works. And then told me to buy another.
