I like to slam the dinks back in the water and watch them swim in circles or see how high they can fly and score there splash down in the water. What the hay I can't keep them and they keep eating all my minnows and minnows are High .. ( just kidding)
It;s people keeping illegal fish that are more problem then some one keeping a 5 pound fish.
I think 88KVD is just being a tree hugging troll and I personly think that ky's lake are better now then they have been in 40 years ... Back in the late 80's i all but quit fishing or lakes because they were over fished so bad and i set my sights on farm ponds and water sheds I had plenty to hunt and planty to fish but as you all know those old farmers are all but gone now so I like the rest have to go back to the lakes for most of my fishing . I still have some nice ponds to fish but i dont keep any fish out of them .
I didn't think L/M bass were native to the state of Ky.

See you old timers just don't have a clue when it comes to reality. The fact is 40 years ago they were experiencing the same problem they will experience in the future. People wanting to keep everything they catch to eat. Was going on 40 years ago and that's why the limits have been raised and they are fighting a thin line of allowing people to keep fish, but still trying to have trophy lakes. But just like everything in society they have to go to extreme on laws in order to get dumbasses like yourself to throw back mature bass. But there are always going to be people like you and "the man". You two should get together and build a pond and stock it with whatever you two dumbasses could keep alive and go out there and fish it everyday and keep every fish in the **** thing and let us responsible fishermen that enjoy fishing and catching trophy bass fish the public lakes. Just a little side note for you two trolls that think that bass is good, you can take a pile of **** and roll it in flour batter and fry it and it probably would taste okay.

Lol. I don't keep LM's. I don't keep bass period. You need help lol. Give it a break man. It's good to take bass out of the lakes.
-
Not big on eating largemouth but I've done it. I'll keep one everytime I foul hook it bad enough to know the fish won't make it. As far as ever keeping a large mouth over 5 lbs I don't think I have to worry about that. I fish nolin and it seems I can't get over the 4lb hump lol. But.... IMO anyone who keeps a smallie just to eat are nuts. let them go! I can understand why some people get upset when others take a big lm. I just shake my head and keep doing what I'm doing. No sense in getting butt hurt over it. Folks can preach catch and release all they want but it's the other mans right to keep his fish as well. There's nothing anyone can do about. Sure if 4/5 guys kept the biggest largemouth on every trip they went on then we might have a serious problem. But I believe it's the other way around that 4/5 guys catch and release.
-
I can't believe other fisherman are still calling people idiots because a guy kept one **** fish. I have never kept bass and think catch and release is a great thing to do. I do keep some stripers at Cumberland because they usually die when released and they are great to eat. That is why I hate fishing around a bunch of people bass fishing. Most ,not all, think they should have the lake to them alone . they run there boats by someone anchored at top speed like they are going to a fire. Very disrespectful and calling people idiots just confirms what I have seen over the years from SOME bass fisherman. If fish and wildlife did not want any fish kept they would have rules against keeping any size. I hate to see any big fish kept of any species but people have the right to do so if they choose. I don't know why SOME bass fisherman think they are the chosen ones on the lake. I think we all need to agree to disagree because unless the laws change fish are going to be kept. I am sure some bass die from post release mortality when any person catches them. A guy keeping a big fish here and there ain't going to ruin the lake. Just because you don't agree with someone a true fisherman will still show respect and not call people idiots. Maybe nicely explain to the person why you think keeping larger fish in not a good thing. He might not have thought about the impact it might have. My father and brother fish bass tournaments and they see people who have bass die in live wells all the time. That is a lot worse to me than a guy keeping on fish. Maybe you should think about that before criticizing others. Can't we all just enjoy the water and be happy?????

I can't believe I am responding to this post but here I am. Amazes me after all the responses and some being upset over keeping one good bass that much hasn't been said about tournaments and mortality. It seems the serious bass fisherman are fine with tournaments keeping fish and ignoring that many of those fish - especially large ones - will not survive after being caught, kept in a live well for hours, hauled by to the launch, paraded around, weighed in, and finally released. Far more good bass die that way than go home for supper. In my eyes the ones that were eaten at least died for a respectable reason. But these same serious fisherman get highly offended at the thought of keeping bass to eat -- in this case one fish. Catch and release is a great thing. Releasing large specimens of any species -
IMO - is a good thing. Keeping a few fish for the table is fine. Killing fish for tournament weigh-ins is absolute BS...
It's not just ONE person keeping ONE fish, all of you guys that are defending the guy I guarantee you have kept plenty of 3,4,5 lb bass. If you are wanting to eat fish I don't mind that at all, just quit fishing for LM, SM and spots to eat. Hell go fish for crappie, bluegill, catfish, or stripers. Much better to eat and grow a lot faster then LM or SM. a 4-5lb LM is an old fish and if you idiots keep on keeping them because it was your first BIG fish then give me a break like there won't be a problem down the road. It's just sad that I look on this website continuously and see people posting pictures of a 5 lb plus LM and it's at your house in the drive way because you kept it. Same story every **** time, "it's my first really good LM and I only kept ONE" Give me a break, I've heard all the BS before. People that keep 5 lb plus largemouth, it isn't there first rodeo. I haven't read any scientific articles about keeping 5 lb plus largemouth is a good way to harvest a lake. The guy kept the biggest fish and threw all the small ones back, makes ZERO sense. You guys defending this guy probably are the biggest problem with lakes. You guys strictly go out there to eat anything and everything you catch. You talk about slots and it being legal for him to keep it, but I'd say the fish and wildlife probably think you guys have some sort of common sense and wouldn't keep a 5 lb plus fish. But just like every law that is invented, it's to help you idiots with no common sense live in society.
I hope your ARROGANT ass doesn't fish tourneys, because I've seen more dead quality KEEPER bass left at a ramp this time of year than anybody could harvest.
If you do fish tourneys, and you fish them this time of the year, you need to STFU.
Later,
Geo

I usually don't chime in on these debates... But I'm going to on this one.... I'm usually not for keeping bass, and personally don't do it myself, unless I know I've foul hooked them and they're gonna die anyways, otherwise I catch & release. But I will keep a few crappie, walleye, etc... (The fish that taste better, in my opinion). But regardless, size and creel limits are set by fish and wildlife, and if someone wants to keep them and is within the law to do so, that's their right - no matter how we feel. So no reason in getting bent outta shape about it. But I'm chiming in on this, because you sir (KVD88) sound like a complete idiot, on here calling people dumbasses and such for the way they feel about keeping/not keeping fish. Let it go man, you sound like a retarded ***hole.

my apologies to every one for being a troll but i got to ask..
(88KVD)
He fell for it Hahahaha ..
So whats realy bothering you son ? Did you go out and buy the bass pro shops 90K Kevin vandam package and still can't catch fish come on tell the truth you stink at bass fishing because you do not have the patience and all your KVD stuff don't work like it does on TV..
for what its worth i dont keep bass but if i catch one bigger then 8 lbs 6 oz it's butt is mine..

Bass fishing by and large is for idiots. You (KVD) spends thousands of dollars, have about 30 3700 boxes full of lures, 15 combos, a hydrowave, power pole, and $1500 GPS sonar unit, and you don't want to keep any fish??!?! Talk about a waste of time and money. Do you hunt with a paintball gun, too?
