i have seen several pics of large cats with friends who have trail cams and I could hardly believe it. Maybe they were Mointain Lions?? I'm such a skeptic that I would have to see the dang thing myself to erase all doubt of it being real.
hope you get up there and talk to them.....I'd like to know.
I know bears are in Clark County since my buddy lives and hunts there. He has them on trail cams and even had the local news out there one day about bears on his property.
I'll post the video as soon as I can track it down,I must have erased it or got it on Facebook and never saved it thinking it was easily available.
I've also been thinking about everyone saying a pet release would be fat, looks to me like a wild cougar would have better luck hunting and eating than a pet release would. So unless it was just recently released a pet would be suffering more, especially in a place like central and northern Ky where pickings would be easy.
Another thought,if this was a pet cougar, instead f a young, wild male, would it have been so afraid of a woman and her dog?

All very good points. I also recall the mt lion in Connetict that had migrated from South Dakota.

i think we'll see more predators as long as the deer population can support them. without food, they wouldn't be here.

Guess I'm goin PETA
...as I'm not real sure why they had to shoot it either. If they had a presence in the state 150 years ago, then I'd surmise that their eventual re-establishment would be a no brainer. I agree that farm folk would be upset if they started loosing stock but hey, they're already loosing some to coyotes etc.

as of feb 18 no necropsy report released that I can find. have personally spoken with wardens KFWD forestry. etc all give the no comment. B/S. AS TO WEATHER THE PUBLIC WILL EVER GET THE TRUTH IS DOUBTFULL. we have all seen the trail cam pictures. east west on into VA. yet, the official line is there are no cougars in ky. why ? maybe not to panic the public.? but if im wading the lickining river for smallies. and a hundred pound cat thinks im dinner whos fault. mine for not being armed with anything but rappalas or kdfw. for not informing the public. they are here guys, seen two many pictures .seen tracks in Missouri. cant wait to see one in the wild(from a safe distance)
