RE: No boat
Also, Rock Creek in Mcreary Co.(a little further drive) Is fun to fly fish for stocker trout and the whole creek has very good access with the road running most of the way next to the creek. No trophy fish my best there ever was 20 inches but great fun if you like hunting trout in a creek.

RE: kyhorsefly...
Nolin is about the same distance for me, and it is between us. I normally fish KY and Barkley because every time I go, I can fish somewhere different. Plus the water color is better, for me anyway, on Barkley. Plus, there are always courtesy docks in the water at Barkley and KY, so I don't have to beach the boat, even though I have a keel protecter.
Plus I don't really know nolin, and from what I understand, after memorial day, you just about have to fish at night.
As to when I normally fish, normally when I'm working, I fish only on weekends obviously. I prefer Saturdays, but do fish some on Sundays.
Until I get a new job, I can fish during the week.
I am interviewing and have a decent shot, however the field for the job I am interviewing for has been narrowed to two!!
So, if everyone on here will do me a favor, say prayers and send me all the good vibes you can for next Thursday, I will be very appreciative. And for those of you who don't really like me, and I know there are some of you out there, remember, if I do get the job, I won't be on here nearly as much to anger you!!!!! LOL
Thanks everyone...
Danny

RE: No boat
leo,
I am a UK student without a boat, and I would love to drive our ride to the lake. I would also be happy to split gas costs. I love to fish, but because of a college budget I am limited on what I can do. Can't afford a boat just yet, but have planty of tourney experience and plenty at running the boat too. I am always looking for a ride so email me at

RE: No boat
Fishin without a boat: Before I went and bought a boat, I spent alot of my time a Floyds Fork off Billtown road. Parking is limited on the side of the road, but I would always catch fish. There are so many different species in that creek. I have caught most of them (and released) there was one day that I even seen a garr pass by when the water was higher than normal. You can fish the banks, wade in the water, sit under shade trees, hide under the bridge during the rain. The last time I was there I had a dead bluegill in my line and after sitting 20+ minutes, something hit it like a freight train and and did not stop unit my 20 pd line ran out. Of course I have not been there in 2 years, but it is an awesome place. Especially for bluegill.

RE: No boat
i have fished Floyds Fork out around Taylorville road and South Pope Lick (by the train trestle) good fishin, no whoppers but as mentioned above lots of variety.

RE: kyhorsefly...
Thanks for the well wishes Jason. I think it went well, but one never knows. They said I could expect to hear from them in about 7 to 10 days.
I didn't get to go fishing this week like I had hoped. I had some family stuff come up at the last minute, and figured I better take care of that instead.
If you guys see a post on here that has the subject "YOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO""""" you will know I got the job! Fishing is such an expensive hobby, I realize I need to work to afford it. Plus, to be totally honest, I've really found myself missing work. I thought I would really enjoy not working... just NOT true.
Wednesday looks good this week, and the water temps are looking good according to the internet site I use (http://www.explorekentuckylake.com/weather.htm), I have promised to take a couple of elderly family members to the doctor appointments they have on Wed and Thurs, I may have to see if my wife will cover for me!!! LOL
