O.K. I just reread the post by Mr. Splitshot where Don Smith talks of this fish and it doesn't say it was weighed, I can only imagine a fellow pre-fishing a FOM tourney would weigh such a fish, maybe not. No I'm not the one that caught it, I wish the hell I was. Spotboy, why so confrontational about all this, you win big guy, the fish was three pounds and 18 and 1/8 inches long. I agree alot of these stories get blown waaay out of proportion, this isn't my first rodeo, it's just this story seemed to have alot of merit especially since Don chimed in with his info which is usually very accurate. We, me, are sorry for ruffling your feathers, now let's just let it go before this post get's wacked and we'll never know if it's true or not. I'll tell you this old buddy if I ever catch that 8lb smalljaw which happens to be my number one goal in fishing before I die, you will hear me from your house screaming and you'll personally get to see more pics of it than you care to look at. What's your biggest smallmouth to date????, just curious.

Spotboy, I think I've been reading pretty much all these posts and I can't recall someone slamming you for saying formulas aren't accurate. Who/when was that?
RE: Cumberland for 1/6 and 1/7
Hey I was just looking to see the pic if it existed . But I didn't want to waste my time pursueing it if in reality it was only a 5lb 'er. Heck a person can see all of those he wants to just by fishing the South centrals when flippin drew fishes lol !!!! And as far as people guessing I fished an everstart with a guy who is well known pro one time and I caught 2 smallies about 4lbs each . He just went on and on about how I caught 2 6lb'ers behind him . I told him they were only 3 3/4 - 4 but man he was really shook up lol. Oh yea he didn't catch another fish all day !!!!
I also don't think people realize JUST how big an 8 lb smallmouth is. They are so few and far between that looking at one and saying THAT IS AN 8 lb'er is near impossible.
AS for my personal best , Weighed on a certified digital scale is 6lb 10 oz. But I might add I have caught several as big and or bigger than that and wouldn't even start to guess their weight. Yes if I caught one I thought was over 8 I would probably take it and have it certified ( after changing my pants ) . BUT I realease all my fish and tell them "Go make babies "!!!
Good luck on getting your 8 plus
