Sometimes when I don't get out as much as I should and I finally do get out on the water, I say to myself, "Now I remember why I came". It always hits me how important that time on the water is for any of the above reasons in the thread.
i get what ever man once in life. something that he can look foward too everytime he goes. No matter how hot or cold he goes. its not about the big one its abput he can take what take what he knows an actually see the results. also he learns new things, findincrappie is returning home. I'm back the 7th I actually fished missouri for six moths its time to get back to the roots.
flat and simple ---- Rest and Relaxation....... !!!!!
I like the peace and serenity of being on or near the water (at least in some places),but I get the biggest thrill in watching my children catch fish, sure I love to catch a few,but as long as my 7 year old is pullin'em in I could care less about myself.
Now my wife is a different story, everytime I take her Striper fishin' she skunks me or outdoes me significantly, I need vindication.
Simple time, to be with myself, my wife, my child. and my grandchildren, and with God. Because when I have all of them out there with me on a cool fall morning and the mist is just breaking and the colors come to life. There is nothing in my mind that could be closer to heaven, there is a spot on the cumberland river just south of helms landing that we got to see that scene played out for us, just last fall. I actually died on the operating table a couple of years ago I was under for 5 minutes or so. I swear to you I saw that part of the river years before we ever got there and I saw both of my grandaughters and at the time only one had been born. since then I have been a different man, folks I am not a preacher, and you can worship any god you want too, but I know there is more than just this one place and time, make the most of it while we are here, I don't know whats around the next been, but despite the pain and troubles of this world I would not trade one minute of the good times to get rid of an hour of the bad. If you are a Fisherman and you have known the peace that only a body of water on God's green earth can give you, you are a lucky man, or woman. If your time come to an end on this world I hope your lake is waiting for you at the next.
God Bless

You may not be a preacher, but the best one in the world couldn't have said it better.
I get a lot out of fishing. It keeps the mind sharp, always working. IT's also relaxing. Now sometimes these long float, wades that we do, end up being pretty exhausting. But it's a good kind of tired.
