Anyone have a update on where the SkipJacks can be caught?
I was down at Cannelton **** last tuesday night, Caught about 12-15 right before dark. I caught them all off Sabiki Rigs. I had to get the rigs down to about 10-16 feet before I would get a hit. I hope they show up in bigger numbers soon.
Good luck getting bait.
When are the hybrids gonna get cranked up?? Dave I was at the Falls yesterday afternoon and the skippies were surfacing everywhere.

Thank's for the reply. The river was muddy up here at Markland and they were hard to find. Lowerider has a tournament coming up and needs that "Big Blue cat candy" he has a friend that will drive all the way down in Tenn. just to catch Skippies for bait. By the way if you have never fished for them they are a blast on light tackle, sabiki rigs or 3to4 small jigs on the line. It's not uncommon to catch more than one at a time. "Tennesee Tarpon" .
I may just try them at Cumberland for the Stripers, they work great in the river down there.

My personal best is 80#'s from the falls on 12# test. IGFA till one was caught in TX at 91# on 12# test. Chuck
I caught one flathead that went 63lbs, It came from the Mouth of Oil Creek down by Derby In off the Ohio river.
That pool is incrediblie (Derby). Big blues/flats seem as common as channels on other pools. Not sure if it's all the bends or what but I love fishing down there.... see ya in late Sept... :-)
The Markland pool is my "home waters" and is better known for big flats although it seems the blue population is growing rapidly. My PB is 50+ and can be seen on the pic page. We caught several that day b/w 25-50+ pounds in less than 2 hours. Gotta love being in the right spot at the right time. Fishins been TOUGH for everyone lately - seems the spawn is lasting longer and later than last year. The blues will be waking up and the flats will be slowing down bedding in the next week or two.
Plenty of mooneye at the dam right now - haven't seen any goldeye yet, but when they show up the giant blues usually aren't far behind.
Fished below the falls yesterday. Boy did we tear them up. Got 7 the biggest was 28" had 1 break off 30# spider wire.
Hey Big Cat,
Got my 600lc it is in good shape was wondering when you think you might back for fishing? The reel could use a good clean and once over. I'm thinking of sending to shimano for service.
Hey there lowerider what kind of boat do you fish out of. Just wondering if it is a deep v model? but it is about 16-18 ft long with a white hull. If so you you were there one day when myself and a gary haired guy caught a 50 or so blue cat. It is a good hole we fish anywhere from the mouth of Oil creek down to the big whit dock. There is also a good deep drop down about 3 miles or so on the In side. Do you know where Im talking about.
