Re: Predictions.........what will the New Admin change FIRST.
My call is he will restructure Bush's tax cuts
Narrow the focus on the war on terror to actually dealing with terrorists.
Quickly rebuild foreign relationships, so that we can once again become respected leaders of global politics.
Help restore Americans faith in our political system.
Restore restore Americans and the rest of the worlds respect for the position of President.
Not spend so much of his first year on Vacation as Bush - if he shows up to work every day he has alread brought about some of the "Change" he spoke of.
I believe he will issue a drft to close Gitmo and spit on the graves of the 9/11 victims.
Re: Predictions.........what will the New Admin change FIRST.
Col I agree with you, but you cant open closed minds. The thing about narrowing down the war on terror means that we will go after the one who started this , OSAMA BIN LADEN, like we should have, he will get us out of Iraq, we should have never went there in the first place, Bush even admitied that there were no weapons of mass destruction there, Bush should and could be charged with war crimes as he invaded a nation with unjust cause, Bin Laden got what he wanted, they struck the towers, which were a tribute to our finaceal success, the thing the Terrosits despise in us, and it worked, the war in Iraq has helped fuel our countrys money mess, so in turn they won as we are now struggling. Tax cuts to the rich, come on they DO NOT NEED ANY MORE TAX CUTS, Bush made all his friends richer, he almost destroyed this country, due to his greed and stupidness. Regan has rolled over in his grave after seeing what the republican party has become, a party of greed, hate, and self rightgoness, sorry for spelling, whaty I am seeing on this board right now is just shy of racisim and hate from some of you, an dthat is not right, this country is in trouble, and some of you say you love this country, but after seeing some of these posts and the other posts about the inauguration, I truly wonder where your loylity lies. This same narrow mindness is what has propelled this country BACKWARD, yes BACKWARD, now there is a little hope but some will never be happy, and can't due to some will not open their minds to change. We needed this as a country, we need to heal we need to put this stupid race thing aside and let the man do his job as WE ELECTED him to do. It does seem funny that the repub's did more to hurt Mcain than help him, Sarah Palin as VP, really what a Repub blunder, it appears to me that the threw the election when they did this. Some of you are now retired and doing ok, the rest of us need a future to look foward to> Also some of you have served this country in war and peace time and gave a lot for this countr, and I respect you for that in the utmost honor, but now you are going against this country in a way that behoves me. It all boils down to pure RACISM and BIGOTRY. nothing else but hate. That is sad:(
Where have you been? You would probably sing a different tune if your son was in a jet patrolling the no-fly zone and getting shot at every day. There were no less than 17 violations of UN resolutions that the UN would do nothing about. Everyone in the is calling for the U.S. to do something about something everyday. When we do then they say "you shouldn't ought have done that"! Saddam Hussein slaughtered the shiite's in the south with helicopter gunships during the uprising after Desert Storm. The world screamed that we should do something. We did! You throw the word Racism around pretty easily. Is there a new definition? Racism - doing the right thing if it is not politically correct. When there is no legitimate defense accuse the other person of racism. Obama is not the first black president! He is the first mixed race president. Why do people overlook that he is half white also?

Great point on the half white issue. To me it's because he has black skin, it's that simple The Black race and the media also need a hero heck, look at Tiger Woods. The first Black man to dominate the sport right? Again, it's hardly ever mentioned his Mother is Asian. Racism is not dead never will be.
Example, I have had people who don't know me start on the Japanese race. I let them talk just to see how far they will go. Sure, I could have crushed their little bitty heads but the look on their face was priceless when I explained how I didn't appreciate their opinions since my Mom is Japanese. Have to admit I got red faced but kept it under control. These were 55-60 year old men! Successful educated business men. Now I know how they really think and they fall all over themselves trying to be nice to me now....whatever.

This statement really gets me, the rich still pay taxes, not as much as the middle class, but you look at the amount they make, and what they pay, and its an incredible amount. If the rich keep getting richer, that means they keep paying the working class salaries. The more money my boss gets to keep, the more likely he will keep his employees employed, and paying them good salaries. So I say let the rich keep as much of their money as possible, that way I will still have a job, and if you tax them to death, guess what, they are going to take their ball, and go play somewhere else (Mexico) which leaves me without a job.

(Bush even admitied that there were no weapons of mass destruction there, Bush should and could be charged with war crimes as he invaded a nation with unjust cause)
I may be wrong, have been before, but I thought that the United States shipped over 150 tons of weapons of mass destruction to Canada to be destroyed, this was supposedly kept secret so no attacks could be made on it. I read this somewhere just dont remember where, and the Liberal Media never mentioned it because they didnt want to admit that there were actually plenty of WMD in Iraq. Someone here help me out, cause I know I read this somewhere. Devils Horse, I'm sure that if anyone here knows it would be you, seems like you keep up on world events pretty well. I will dig around and try and find the article.
Re: Predictions.........what will the New Admin change FIRST.
Here is an article about the WMD that were never found in Iraq, and why President Bush should be put in prison for invanding Iraq without just cause.
A national defense analyst says President Bush should be commended for keeping quiet about a discovery that could have blown his critics out of the water.
Retired Major General Jerry Curry is a decorated combat veteran who served as an Army aviator, paratrooper, and Ranger during a military career that began during the Korean conflict. He recently wrote on his blog about a very under reported story by the Associated Press.
According to the report, a large stockpile of concentrated natural Uranium, known as "yellowcake," reached a Canadian port to complete a top secret U.S. Operation that included a two-week airlift from Baghdad, and a ship voyage crossing two oceans. The Uranium material had been housed at a former Iraqi nuclear complex 12 miles from Baghdad.
Curry says the president kept mum about the discovery in order to keep terrorists in the dark. "He made a very brave stand, a resolute stand..., in which he decided that he wasn't going to blab everything to the press," Curry commends. "...And in the meantime while he kept it quiet, he was buying time from the terrorists to get all that stuff out of the country. So that's what was done -- he just very quietly kept his mouth shut."
"The press beat him to death for the last several years," he continues, "and now it turns out that, yes, there were weapons of mass destruction...." Curry also maintains that Saddam Hussein had an active nuclear program and the material could have been made into a nuclear weapon.
President Bush's actions took courage, he notes, and all Americans should be thankful to have such a brave president who puts the welfare of the American people above personal considerations
This is one of the reasons I have nothing but respect for the former President of these United States, I dont care what anyone says, he held strong to his beliefs, never wavered in his strong Christian beliefs, and above all, he always had the American peoples best interest in mind, right or wrong, he absolutely loved his country, and its people.
Re: Predictions.........what will the New Admin change FIRST.
Here's a few things he did on his first day.
Allowed for more information from the Freedom of Information Act.
More restrictions on lobbyist activities from those in his administration, plus restrictions on what his administration personnel can do after they leave related to lobbying.
Freezing salaries of about 100 White House employees making over $100K.

Nothing Earth shattering but not a bad start if you ask me and you really should ask me. :)
Wishin do you have a link to that story?
Re: Predictions.........what will the New Admin change FIRST.
Well if this salary freeze for everyone making over $ 100,000.00 a year is for the folks working in the White House....Then does this include all those working in the Senate and House of Representatives as well..? if not then why?
The House & Senate are the only types of foundations that can just input and pass a raise whenever they seem to feel like they need one. Heck they even got their own personal Retirement program set up strictly for them....:(

Agree it's not a bad start far as the lobbyists go, a definite step in the right direction. A change I would applaud is to COMPLETELY eliminate lobbying, and all the gifts, junkets, and other stuff that corrupts politicians.
Bet his staffers are wishing that inauguration party hadn't cost 170 million. There's nothing like getting a pay freeze when you're hungover from a party you didn't realize you were paying for. Ouch. Will he take the money saved and use it for the first lady's salary?

Good post! You'd never see CNN,NBC,CBS,etc reporting on this, they're way too busy worshiping the new administration. You should've posted this as a separate thread, be real interesting to see what the Bush haters have to say about it. Not much I'd bet.

Oh don't worry they are checking this on snopes, and any other internet check system they can find to discount this, they'll find something.
On a side note. Letting possible or probable known terrorist free from Gitmo and doing away with that camp for me is a direct slap in the face to any and all families that were affected by 911. Shame on the Libs, this is a stupid move, stupid, stupid, stupid, I'll say it again, STUPID! Anybody that is worried how we treat known terrorist and murders are quite franky idiots. I don't care if they have to pull there dang fingernails off with channel locks and poor straight sulfuric acid on the fresh wounds to get what they need from them. Whack'em, Pack'em, and Stack'em, then bulldoze dirt over them, I'M DONE!
Re: Predictions.........what will the New Admin change FIRST.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Ninety percent of Americans approve of the way President Bush is handling his job after the Sept. 11 attacks, the highest rating for a U.S. president EVER recorded by the Gallup polling group, USA Today and CNN reported on Sunday.
First - for all of us I hope Obama succeeds,
If we judge a president success by approval rating - then when we were under duress his was the highest ever, that showed the support we gave our president during trying times when it directly effected us. I don't care about our presidents race, do care if he follows through on promises, be it I do not approve of some of them and I too will show him the respect of the office that is owed, BUT.... Respect is earned not given so I will with hold my respect for him and his accomplishments until he earns it from me. God bless us all.
