Re: I screwed up!!!! T-ville related
Just thought of a upside to my screwed up fishing season this year.
As I haven't caught crap this year, atleast I don't have to worry about anybody taking my spots.
Downside: Anybody who sees me fishing a spot all day, then takes the spot when I leave, is likely to be looking to kick my butt. I probably inadvertently caused them to waste a day of fishing.
DISCLAIMER: Until I start catching more fish (or atleast learn to lie better), take my advise this year "AT YOUR OWN RISK"

Thats pretty good!
Re: I screwed up!!!! T-ville related
Here's what I don't understand about this "issue". This is probably going to come across a little more harsher than I really mean--Are they your fish? Did you put them there? Are they located in a special place on the lake that only if you have the magical map will you be able to find the place?
If its in a large public lake like T'ville, if its a spot that produces, I'm sure you and at least 20 other people know about it. And then theres the anglers who just happen across it. Sure, some are C&R fishermen, but some are also C&E too.
You have to realize its possible that one day you're fishing there and releasing them and the next, a guy is keeping every one. Its just in this case, you know they guy who's keeping them. I wouldn't waste too much of my life being upset over that--that time could be better spent catching fish.
Re: I screwed up!!!! T-ville related
I would like to say that NOT ALL "Friends" will STEAL YOU SPOTS! I have never fished t-ville before this year, so I contacted Jarod Swift (by far one of the BEST anglers AND people I have ever had the pleasure of fishing with) about being my partner for a Tuesday night or two. He took me out and we fished some of his spots, even though I spent more time learning than fishing to be honest, and I told him flat out that anything he showed me or places we fished (including what, where, when, how, ect) I would NEVER share OR use when he was fishing. I have also had the pleasure of fishing with his brother, who is a dang good guy in his own right, once too and told him the same thing. I can say that I have NOT been back to those spots, nor guided/told anyone about them since. I felt that if he was nice enough to show me where they were, and he was, then I owed it to him to not pass that information along to anyone else and have not. He did say I was welcome to fish them if I liked, but it just don't feel right to me when I have someone else in the boat with me that will surely know them if we fish them together and do well. I would REALLY have loved to use them a few times on some of these Tuesday nighters, but he has been in them and as far as I concerned that would be disrespectful to take one just cause I got lucky enough to get a good "launch number" when I would not know of them if not for him.
I guess I am saying TWO things here (however long winded it is): 1. Not all people you help are going to screw you over, or pass on the information. Heck, they may be like me and just pass them up, while drulling at them, and go on to where they will lose another tourney just outta respect. 2. I REALLY NEED HELP with some spots I CAN USE of T-ville as I am getting CRUSHED EVERY WEEK THERE....LOL :)
Good thread but I am sorry so many have had such bad experiences, especially the jerk who went late at night to a private lake and then lied about it and cost you that "honey hole". You are a better man than I as I might have saught out revenge in some why on that dude!

PS. If anyone would like to fish t-ville sometime I am always looking for someone to go with, just know that I would like to start teaching my 4,5 and 8 year old sons to fish off the boat, so I may ask (if its just for a fun fishing trip) if you mind me bringing one or two of them to join us :)
This is for bassking. What did fishing tournaments have to do with this thread? You had a bad experience with one person and this makes tournaments bad? It sounds like you had a bad experience with a friend. People love to get on here a bash tournament fisherman. If you don't like fishing tournaments, than don't fish them. I don't think anyone is forced to fish tournaments are they? Everyone is different thats what makes the world go round. I like to fish to fish tournaments but if other people don't like to fish them I don't bash them.
first off buddy, you have missread somethin because this was by all means not a freind , more of "hey ive seen that guy before". tournaments or not the thread was based on becarefull who u share your info with. you dont know me at all and if you did u would know that I tournament fished from the age of 12 until i was 24 and did fairly well. fished 16 tournies in one year and out of the 16 me and my partner won 13 of those on percy preist lake and went on to fish a fall trail on barren and rough and won 4 of those and just recently fished one with a good freind and took second and had big bass. so before you get on your horse and saddle up thinking i was bashing tournament guys you need to think twice. as a matter of fact i would still fish tournies if it werent for my family and a very demanding career.
so in closing i dont think you should question anyone about bashin except yourself. i did a feindly thing by helpping a guy who needed a partner and i got screwed. and if you think this doent happen more often than not with tournament fishingyoure very mistaken cause money and the ego of being the best at that moment causes people to act very strange. iknow because ive been there done that.
so , have a nice day and think before you accuse buddy.

yes u can have a magical spot at a lake. it could be something as small a a 2ft change in depth near some sort of structure that is holding a good amount of fish and the guy that went through that area prior to yourself didnt notice it.
nope ther all of our fish cause our money goes to helping them keep lakes in good shape and the fishery healthy.
there are spots that produce at every lake that anyone would could hit but they have to know what to do when they get there. i know of a few spots a T-Ville that we have done very well at and heard another guy say they got skunked in that spot/area.
I myself think that people who keep bass for the dinner table actully do some of us C&R fisherman some good. there needs to be a certain amount of harvest at a lake to keep the population from getting too large and the growth rate being stunted. unless your talking about a huge lake , eating some will help the population. in-fishermans Doug stangy actually has an article about this and it a good read. i will post a link if i can still find it

Re: I screwed up!!!! T-ville related
If this had happend to me, I would have been mad also. I always speak my mind, so I would confront my friend and tell him he was wrong and I was upset. If you guys are good friends you should be able to talk about this, resolve it, and still be friends....

Re: I screwed up!!!! T-ville related
I'm always super appreciative of tips and types of areas to fish but am a little uneasy if someone gives me exact spots.
Last April I was down in the Lake Okeechobe area fishing the rim canal when a transplant from Cadiz said hello to me. Water was very low and I was not locating fish well. He told me of a place they used 6 miles up stream. Two days later I came back to try the area he suggested to me and to my surprise here were the same guys getting ready to launch. I ask for permission to try the spot they suggested even though I launched first. They said the area covered a mile of so of water and to go for it. Well, by the time we I ran into the guys was about noon, they had zero'd and I had had a very fine morning. I noticed they were fishing a black worm that likely had done it for them two days later in low light evening conditions. I tossed them some of my shakey head worms and some heads and told them how to fish a Shakey head in clear water on a bright day. I don't know if it changed there luck but I at least tried to pay them back for telling me of the clean water they have found. Clear water in Florida is everything to catching bass.
I would not mind telling anyone about my spots or techniques if they were as sensitive as I am not to abuse the information or the person who helped me. The problem is some peopel are just fishing hacks who lack sensitivity and as a result, I usually don't share much.
On sharing info on private lakes and ponds, would not think about it for a moment and won't let guys get a good look at what I use when fishing. Too many stories of guys abusing other peoples property, taking fish and leaving trash behind.
Hey guys i fish tville alot C&R
I fish out at t-ville alot and sometimes ill catch 15 in a day but thats really rare for me. Id love some tips on baits, how deep to fish, colors etc.. Reason being is that sometimes ill fish a tnt or friday night tourney and wont catch a dang keeper unfortunatly. The lake is close to me and i love it but it sometimes frustrates the crap out of me. I normally fish shallow and im guessing i need to fish deeper especially in the summer months. Also if anyone is ever looking for a partner in a tourney or just for a day of fishing give me a shout my name is matt 502-762-6683 call or text. Thanks in advance for any tips
