Re: The National Tea Party
The last 8 years bush 2 got us into a war on false pretense that we cant finish. Destroyed the budget that clinton got almost to a surplus.
OK slipped ROCKER.........er, I mean cork.........just how safe today are you SINCE those wars. I think NO attacks on the US is kinda a good metric...but hell I guess you think they are all giddy about Obama and will NEVER attack us again....RIGHT.
With regards to that Clinton budget........how did he GET there.......
I will tell you how.........
He GUTTED the military.......WHICH is why we had to do some silly biltz type war effort in the beginning......
Here is a list of military cuts out of slick willies administration........
709,000 REGULAR (ACTIVE DUTY) PERSONNEL.
293,000 RESERVE TROOPS.
EIGHT STANDING ARMY DIVISIONS!
20 AIR FORCE AND NAVY AIR WINGS WITH 2,000 COMBAT AIRCRAFT
232 STRATEGIC BOMBERS.
9 STRATEGIC BALLISTIC MISSILE SUBMARINES WITH 3,114 NUCLEAR WARHEADS ON 232 MISSILES.
500 ICBMs WITH 1,950 WARHEADS.
FOUR AIRCRAFT CARRIERS AND 121 SURFACE COMBAT SHIPS AND SUBMARINES PLUS ALL THE SUPPORT BASES, SHIPYARDS, AND LOGISTICAL ASSETS NEEDED TO SUSTAIN SUCH A NAVAL FORCE.
And at the time......these cuts would have made up the 3rd largest army in the WORLD..........yea...........Clinton sure served us WELL.
I normally dont read links but I did yours because you seemed to be informed. So here goes my short version, the icecaps are melting at an very fast rate. Some say its a natural cycle, some say its because the earth is warming. With a couple hundred years at best of data I tend to believe the earth is warming. If this country is 1st to do something about it maybe it can be slowed. If so then everyone can follow us but sticking our head in the sand isnt an option. I think we can all agree that there is a problem, not only with warming but with pollution of our air and water. I am not a doctor but has anyone noticed the cancer rate among non smokers? I say its the pollution but what do I know. I would think a consertative would love cash for clunkers, a tax incinitive, bush loved those tax cuts. I am trying to answer your questions but I have ran out of room and time.:)
So, lets talk global warming................
Did you realize that over the past 12 years, we've cooled quicker than any OTHER TIME in recorded HISTORY...........
Yep.........but hell.......global warming is REAL, the ice caps are melting, we're all going to drown............RIGHT.
You guys are killing me tonight. I had to get another beer to enjoy all of the humor tonight. Glade I'm off tomorrow it could be a long night better than Comedy Caravan. A few more good posts and I have to get out a little KY Sippin Bourbon.
Slippedcork I bet people got cancer before we had pollution. I bet it was as high as it is today. But it was probably a little harder to tell.
This last part is for everyone else who thinks slippedcork is a troll and I could be wrong but has he ever posted anything about fishing on any of the other threads?
I just did a search on slippedcork and he had at that time made 11 posts and one was about a hook rusting in the mouth of a fish. The rest were political.
Zx I say you are right.
The president and liberal democrats shouldnt listen to you guys. You are not the ones who elected them and put them in power....
I disagree. It does not matter who won and who is in office, they represent all of us. Listening to both sides will provide a better idea of what the WHOLE country wants, not just part of it. It should not matter what side came up with the idea, if it is good for the country, we should be looking seriously at it. I don't like the idea of one side deciding that they are in power and cramming things through that are contentious. Both sides should be working together towards a common goal that we can all live with.

If you put all of them on a bus {if there was one that big} and gave them a choice of eating at McDonalds or Subway they would have to fight over where to eat. And then see where they could get the most return on our doller {into their pockets} because taxes would have to pay for the meal.
