Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
So, since he was not prosecuted nobody can release his name on this site? No justice has been done to this guy.

Yep, but on the first page Don Smith said "he has the name and can be easily reached", BBC won't release the name like that as well. I understand there was an attorney there and "it's not over" too many witnesses and angry people myself included
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
Geo was exactly correct....When you signed up for an account on this site you agreed to the rules and those are the rules.....Dave wasn't being a liberal....He was simply reminding you of the rules you agreed to abide by...This is the first I've heard of this and have no clue who these guys are but it's ridiculous....Our world has came to the point where we can't do anything involving money that somebody won't try to "steal"....I don't fish ovely large tournaments but i am a tournament fisherman....The thrill for me doesn't come when they hand me that check....The thrill is when I have that fish on the end of the line and when I walk to the scales knowing I have some good fish....I love tournament fishing but it, like so many other things in this world, has gone in the crapper....You'd like to think you could trust your fellow anglers but things like this insure that we can't

I just cant figure out how this makes Dave a liberal? Im very conservative and had the same thought as Dave. How can you prosecute someone without any evidence presented what so ever.
I hate it too if it is true because I tourney fish. Just present the proof or news article is all you have to do.
What does my name, address, and phone number have to do with this guy cheating? You must be a liberal. I would hate to be afraid to hurt someones feelings by not being politically correct. Someone needed to beat his butt. No one in the crowd that would have stoned him to death would have been sued for liable, and you are afraid this site will be held responsible. Makes me ashamed to be affiliated with this site. What a joke!!!
I know you are emotionally charged up. I dislike cheating much like you and everyone else on this thread. Dave is stating the rules and we need to respect the rules established by the founders. It has nothing to do with being a liberal...I think you owe Dave an apology.
Otherwise I think that the tournament director was too nice. I would have let him weigh those fish and let him get hauled off the stage by the cops. I believe if people better understand the harsh consequences, you will minimize the cheating. However, I do not have any science to back up that statement, so who knows....
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
I just talked to a guy that fished the tournament....and while i dont have any PROOF, he told me the exact same story without me even bringing it up.....so draw the conclusions you may from that
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
i not a big tourney fisherman, really not even a good fisherman.the sad part of this is it probaly happens way more than we know, guys with big boat payments,500 dollar rods,50 grand pickup, late house payment and wants to win at all cost.fishing is my get away, hobby, and fun all in one,and i plan to keep it that way.i want to be known as a good sportsman, not a big tourney winner.
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
Ok guys This is the story as told by one of the tournament officials. Someone who would not give his name called the tournament official of an up coming big bass event ( this past sunday) and told him where a basket that contained 5-6 keeper smallmouth was hidden. The official found the basket and took a hole punch and punched the tails of each fish. When the gentleman and his brother tried to weigh in the fish they where told one of two things was going to happen .If they weighed the fish they would be arrested on site and charges would be brought against them OR they could throw back their fish and take the walk of shame. Over 100 witnesses where there.Since it only happened yesterday no newspaper article has been printed.
As for dragging someones name or rep through the mud I think those guys are doing a good job of ruining their rep by themselves!!!!
So Dave I have no problem giving the names if you say it is ok. Don't think those two yahoos want to be pressing any charges against this board or any person or persons.. lol

Read the Discussion Board Rules before you post here again....or you won't be posting anymore here. My thoughts on this issue have nothing to do with my reminder that the rules of this site state you must put up your contact information before making such accusations. This applies to you, me and anyone else.
If you do not like the way the site is being administrated, then I would advise you to send your complaints to "] as stated in the Discussion Board Rules rather than posting your complaints on the boards, which by the way is another violation of the rules as is your slamming of me and the site.
End of Conversation about this on the boards.

Jeff: Whether or not you post the names here on the board is up to you...not me. I would however if I were you, contact "] before you do so to get the owner's opinion on this, because this is what I will be doing if they are posted. If the owner is fine with your doing so, then go for it.
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
My opinion: IF in fact this did happen as stated (I say IF because without any proof or evidence, which if things happeded as stated is now swimming in the lake) then I certainly agree that all tournament directors should have these guys names. As stated in most all tournament rules, the tournament director has the right to refuse entry from anyone.
Again, IF this did happen, then I would think as someone stated, these guys are done fishing tournaments and in their communities because of the public shame...but then again, most criminals don't care what you think of them or they would not have commited a planned crime in the first place.
Again, IF this did happen, for the life of me I cannot understand why charges were not brought against these guys unless the attorney present had advised the tournament directors that their way of marking the fish would not hold up in court. I know in cases past that if Fish and Wildlife enforcement had been involved, there would have been samples of the fish DNA taken, probably video etc beforehand so that there the state had the evidence needed to convict these folks. Anyway, for whatever reason, the tournament directors decided not to press charges at this time or there would have been law enforcement officials present. Too bad.
