Proposed Ban on Lead Fishing Tackle

I been inhaling leaded gas vaoprs since i was a teenager... still havent had any ill effects... its hard to fuel an airpolane without inhaling the fumes...

My main complaint about this thread is that are we turning this board into a political blog? Responses like "no science bunny haggers" are really far fetched. Where did this guy go to school and what biology courses did he take. What studies has he done. Obamunists hype for programs that have been understudy for 20+ years, refences to crack pipes, come on where did your brain get washed?

I'm just saying to try and be responsable out there in the world. Use the steel weights when you can and where they work for you, catch and release fish that you don't eat. Promote hunting and fishing to your children, friends and your comunity. The deer herds in Ky are heathier and more plentiful now than when Danial Boone was hunting. Thanks to game management. Yes we need hunters and fishermen to help manage herds and fisheries. Note the slot sizes that have inproved numbers and size of fish.

So don't turn this into a political blog. I think they will see tackle is not a major source of contamination. But, if you can use the steel thats good. I think we could improve on the othe contaminates such as mercury & PCBs, but I guess that would kill jobs.

I was in Cleveland when the Cuyahoga river caught on fire and burned for miles and days. So I am not going to believe that pollution is some left wing attempt to controll the universe.

I am going to have to disagree on this one. Your facts are off base - the Ohio river has cleaned up much from the 60s and 70s and the fish contamination while not gone has improved. I agree that where real polluction and issues exist (like DDT) I am all for dealing with but lead from hunting and fishing has never been linked to any kind of contamination except for isolated cases where birds have ingested shot and have been poisoned. The wholesale ban of lead used for hunting and fishing is nothing more than a typical liberal ploy to control our freedoms. What could be more political?

Here is the bottom line folks.....you have the message...if you are in favor of stopping the ban on lead used in fishing tackle then follow the links above and make yourself heard. If you in favor of banning lead in fishing tackle, then contact your representatives and make yourself heard.

I am locking this thread...it is turning into and Obama love and hate political discussion...this site is about fishing....take the political discussions somewhere else.
