Re: Just another reason Bob Knight is a tool!
Watch it Don, we have two posters that I am aware of that hooped it up in college. I don't care what college they played at, just being good enough to play beyond high school is saying something. Don't get yourself dunked on and taunted!
Btw, if you watch the Kuric dunk, he never said a word and stared at the guy for maybe half a second. Two things to watch after the dunk. #1 If there was going to be a T it should have been on Jennings, he got so emotional you would have thought he dunked it. #2 Look at the Syracuse cheerleaders reaction. I think one of them flat fell in love with KK after that play.
Have you seen Kuric's girlfriend at UofL, Dang, I mean Dang, oh man DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That Cuse cheerleader wasn't wantin on him badddddddddd, lol.
Alright ''Mr Fitness'' I can still hang **** it. I use to have them guns like you got, I just can't find the time to work on'em anymore, lol. I got the stamina still from running need to get my upper body toned back up.......:)
Mark,
I gotta hand it to ya...running kills me! I'm more a circuit, interval training type of guy. Like most of you guys that played sports the injuries from years ago seem to flare up the older I get. :)
Re: Just another reason Bob Knight is a tool!
It all comes down to what your standards are I guess. I have yet to see anyone defend him or make excuses for him except IU fans. I guess they are blinded by those three rings. It reminds me of older UK fans that try and convince me that Rupp wasn't a racist, despite the mountain of evidence to the contrary.
As far as Wikipedia's reliability, it is more accurate than most anything that is put on the baord, particularly the Bob Knight page that has sources cited for the gun incident in Texas.
lroberts do you realize what your logic sounds like? "He is just a poor misunderstood person and really means well. He didn't mean to shoot his buddy, it was his buddy's fault." I guess it was his buddies fault for Knight not purchasing a hunting license.
I do understand my logic. Knight has done a lot of good things, and mixed in are some not so good (and even just plain dumb) things. The good FAR outweigh the bad IMO. The media does a great job of portraying the bad, but omitting the good. Is some of that brought on by Knight, yes. As far as the shooting accident, yes it was the other hunters fault. Could it have been avoided.....yes.....probably by both sides. The other hunter admitted that he broke line, what do you not get about that? If you read my post carefully you would have noticed that I said he should have had a license...there is no excuse for that and I didn't make one.

Well then explain how he "accidentally " shot a woman in her yard at a dove shoot in Texas in a field next to a subdivision, this after the woman's husband yelled at Knight twice to tell him to watch where he was shooting only to be cussed out by the IU hero?
Why did IU fire Knight in the 1st place if he was so wonderful? So,do you agree that if Rape is inevitable that you should lay there and enjoy it? Bobby Knight was,is,and always will be a Walking,Talking Rectum.
Re: Just another reason Bob Knight is a tool!
"So,do you agree that if Rape is inevitable that you should lay there and enjoy it?" What in the world do you mean by that??? Let me guess, you have never been on a Dove hunt.....do you really think that he intentionally shot someone??? Get over yourself man!

Bob Knight made the Rape quote on National TV.
I've been hunting since 1963 and never shot anybody or anybodies house.
Re: Just another reason Bob Knight is a tool!
Congrats, me neither. What context was that quote made in???
Re: Just another reason Bob Knight is a tool!
Bob Knight Theater never gets old – for a guy that drilled discipline into his players he could never practice what he preached!
But a total tool – I DON”T THINK SO!
Bob Knight gets up every morning and decides which one of THREE National Championship rings he’s going to wear that day. That puts him in pretty rare company, among the all time coaching greats. Wooden has 10, Rupp & Kzryzewski (a former Knight Assistant!) 4 each, and then comes Knight with 3, then comes a large group of legendary coaches with 2 championships each. He has won 902 games – that alone makes him a legend, even if the 902 wins is exceeded by Kzryzewski (did I mention he is a former Knight Assistant!).
An unbeaten season (32-0 in 1976), and he came very close to another unbeaten season the year before (31-1 in 1975). Don’t you think that every team Indiana beat in a 31-1 year in 1975 gave IU a their best game the very next year that they went undefeated?
When he was coaching Indiana there was always a large group of his former players in the stands, they would go to the locker room before and after games, and for every Neil Reed there would be countless other names, like Buckner, May, Benson, Thomas, Cheaney, & others that supported Coach Knight. The reporters never told about, and, Knight did not try to publicize the good things he did for the University, players and fans, raising millions of dollars for the library, countless fund raising events, hospital visits, Landon Turner, etc. But the negative, they made sure to show all of that, and admit it was easy copy for the reporters business, sold a lot of papers, got lots of exposure. Some of what he did was embrassing.
But consider three NCAA championships, the total number of games won, impact on the game, name engraved on a plaque in Springfield, 6 times named Big Ten Coach of the Year . . . Legend.
Tough to play for and against? Undoubtedly.
Controversial, outspoken and opinionated? Yes.
Pain in the butt bully? YES.
Embarrassed IU and fans by his behavior at times? YES!
Not a tool!
The man in the red sweater will allways be my favorite IU Coach. If Tom Crean achieves half of the record that Robert Montgomery Knight did Harry Potter will be a great coach, I for one hope he does.
Heck yeah man tell it like it is....
Srry Tim but this man gets nothing but my total respect as a coach nd a mentor to all he came in contact with.
Can't say the same about Denny Crum and his program at U of L.... Denny was like most coaches in the system..He wanted wins vs graduation rates while at U of L.....
Just check out Crum's Gradutaion rate of his player's vs Indiana's during the time both coach's were at their respective schools......
So if anyone is a Tool it would be Denny Crum for not getting his player's to get their (FREE) edcation and a even bigger TOOL in Rick Pitino who is a New York Thug and Wife Cheater......
Re: Just another reason Bob Knight is a tool!
Last year we got a really nice warm day in early march so I decided to go fishing...wasn't smart enough to realize that my fishing liscense had expired so I guess I broke the game law for that one day....It was purely an accident and I haven't done it since....Does that make me a TOOL Tim?....I was raised fairly rough and am a better man because of it...Maybe that's what Bob was doing to his kids at IU, and Lord knows 90% of the kids playing college basketball, especially now, need it....He did some stupid stuff and lost his temper quite a bit but does that actually make him a tool...Maybe if there were more "tools" coaching in the college ranks the NBA wouldn't be what it is today huh?

You might be a tool? I don't know. Have you ever shot anyone and not reported it to the authorities? Have you ever bullied everyone you come in contact with? Have you ever went on an out of state hunting trip and not bought a license for that state? Have you ever continuosly been a disrespectful Azz to people for no reason? Have you evre purposefully fired a shot gun at someone? If you have done most or all of these than the answer would be yes. Accidentally forgetting your license was expired is just a wee bit different.

I "get" that totally. Take off your crimson-colored glasses, and maybe you'll "get" the fact that if another hunter breaks line on a bird hunt, you don't shoot in that direction; you tell the guy to get back in line. It's the most basic, fundamental law of gun safety; know what is in your line of fire. Responsible hunters hunt all their lives and never come close to breaking it.
There is no excuse for shooting someone else on a bird hunt. You're the one with the gun, you decide what is a safe shot and what is not. An unsafe shot does not become a safe shot because someone else "broke line".
Re: Just another reason Bob Knight is a tool!
"Could it have been avoided.....yes.....probably by both sides."
Did you not see that I said this??? It was an accident....accidents do happen in bird hunting...especially when someone doesn't do what they are supposed to and expected to do. Should Knight have seen him make the mistake, maybe, I wasn't there and neither were you. All I know is that the guy took responsibility. My opinion on this has nothing to do with being an "IU" guy BTW.....I am much more level-headed than that!
