I hate BIG OIL.
Question? If oil is down then why did gas go from 3.27 yesterday morning to 3.49 yesterday afternoon? I guess do to time to jack it up as it is a holiday weekend. It is only about profit and GREED I am not against anyone making a profit but when it is done at others expence and without regards to what and how it affects others, is not right, Jesus threw out the profit hungry money changers, now we should, they are the wall street bunch. I am with you all the way Mark . I HATE BIG OIL

When gas prices jump like that before a BIG holiday, it is generally the INDEPENDENT station owner trying to make a buck off of travelers. It has NOTHING to do with big oil.
Most stations are owned by INDEPENDENT owners, and are franchised. They rarely make more than a few cents /gallon on gas. They rely on other purchases in their store. When they jack prices up like they always do, they are trying to make a little more than 2-3 cents a gallon. I don't blame them, even though I HATE IT.
If more people purchased their other products, maybe they would not have to jack around with the price so much.

You're a little off the mark there, Geo. Yes, many gas stations are independently owned, but there are a few that are owned by the oil companies, and they set the prices on those. Those are generally the first to raise or lower their prices, and then the independently owned ones follow suit. Gas station owners do get emailed the wholesale price of gasoline every day for reference, then add 11 or 12 cents a gallon to figure out the ideal price, but the actual price they end up charging has more to do with reaction to the competition than anything else.
I absolutely HATE BIG OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I STAND by what I originally posted.
According to this link, about 2% of the convenience stores that sell gasoline are OWNED by BIG OIL......

Over 1/2 are independent operators. Those that are not are corporations, but NOT big oil.

Yes Geo and most of the convenience stores are owned by people from DIFFERENT COUNTRIES who have been given govt subsudys and tax breaks and other TAX PAYER MONIES, to buy these stores, yes I understand that the store needs to make a proft, that is why they sell cigs, cokes, dirty mags, drug pipes, candy chips, etc, they dont make a lot on gas, maybe 2/3 cents a gal, so someone is making a lot more than them, lets see, who that could that be, well it is BIG OIL, Big Corporations, and people who lie in bed with big government, I see your points Geo and respect them, and I understand that this is a country set up so a person can make a dollar or two having there own business, but when that quest for profit causes undo and unwarrented duress on the people and the country as a whole, as these gas prices and medical costs and also utilitys, It IS NOT RIGHT, we call ourselves a christian nation, but we do not adhere to to the way christ said we should live. It is totally wrong to take advantage of your fellow citizens just to make a buck.
