Just so you know...(sit back and get a glass of Jim Beam first) he didn't make it to the top by riding on his old man's coat tails. The music industry WANTED him to be like his dad, sing his dad's songs, etc...but it wasn't working out. He didn't make the big time until he started playing music HIS way.
I'm pretty sure it was his mom that made him play his dad's old songs. She had him on tour singing his dad's song, dressing like his dad, and so on. One day he wanted to play a few of his own songs, and she didn't agree...........not wanting to remain in his dad's shadow, he left home and went out on his own and made it happen for himself.
Watch the movie "Living Proof: Hank Williams Jr. Story" sometime. You'll like it.
Also, on a side note, there is a movie due out later this month about the last days of Hank Williams Sr.'s life, called "The Last Ride". I've been looking forward to it for a long time, just hoping it comes to a theater near here....
Go here and watch the trailer:

Thanks to Steve Jobs, I recieved some sort of alert on my cell phone today mentioning that our boy Hank is about to release a new song titled; "Keep the Change!"
Hmmmm....with a title like that there's no tellin' what the song is about but I bet I'm gonna like it!
Thanks Steve and thank you HANK!
They both wore / wear big cowboy hats.......:)
Not exactly a Hank Jr. fan..., but have to admit his style of music did get better with time, kind of like a good aged Kentucky Bourbon whiskey.
Reminds me of the only time the wife and I went to a live concert back in the mid 60's; HAND WILLIAMS Jr. Being a fan of HANK Sr, I was all excited. Didn't last long, as before the first intermission, told the wife, let's get the hell out of her. Took almost 20 years before I could appreciate Jr's music, and then from a distance. :p

I hear ya...I never claimed he was a good singer,..but his "style of music" as you say does provide for some good redneck entertainment.
So he actually said that BO was just like Hitler? If he said that then he is wrong. If he was trying to let everyone know how disappointed he was in both parties and was making a drastic comparison to make his point, he should have used different words. It does bother me that while our men and women are dying in two(or is it three now)wars, our politicians find time to yuk it up on the links. I did like it when Bush quit golfing because he didn't think it was right to golf while people were dying in war. It's a respect thing. As for me, "I'd like to spit a little beachnut in that dudes eye". Y'all know what I'm talking about dont you? (I bet you dont) I'm not defending him for saying stupid things. Our politicians have called certain people in political parties nazi's with no negative results. Hank says something stupid and gets pulled. It all depends on who you are I guess.

He never said those words. He inferred that. Our PC world has gone over the top crazy. Many others have said worse about GOP and Tea party members but nothing happens there??
Morgan Freeman, Nancy Pelosi and others says tea party folks are racists ...sure nothing wrong with that if your white but if your black it would be a whole different story. Black groups are OK but groups of folks who are not black are racists. Double standard.
My take is because our POTUS is half black, Disney is involved and ESPN is a huge money making machine that getting rid of a white guy was the easiest way to end this.
