Just some thoughts for all and to learn abit. I keep a updated inventory of all my rods and reels, including date bought and price paid on a spreadheet. Each time I update the inventory, I then take a digital photo to store with the inventory. Just one or 2 pics of all the rods and reels in the rod rack. I also keep a spreadsheet for boat gear, and include serial numbers for items with them, makes, models, date bought, and price paid. I keep digital photos of the higher cost boat gear and electronics. I register warranties on all items that have them, just to have an online and printed record I had the item to register.

I haven't had a major loss. But was wondering from you alls experience. Do the inventories and digital photos help satisfiy the inusrance companies if you have to file a claim?[/QUOTE]

I do similar.........and I take it one step further. Since I started going to canada, I have quite a bit of canoe/camping equipment. I figured if I lost the trailer in an and it was loaded with rods, reels, camping gear, stoves, and canoes, it might be a 6-7 thousand dollar loss. Since most the gear is mine, it would be my loss.

I now have a rider on the trailer and a rider on my canoes and all my camping equipment. It really is not too much and definitely gives piece of mind.

starving children is still no excuse to steal a man would still ask!

Good point. What ever happen to folks down on their luck who approach you and say "Hey mister, for two o those fish, I'll wash your truck"

Seems to me too many have a sense of entitlement, i.e. "I lost my job, so I should be able to take your stuff because I need it to survive". To those I suggest a lost job and an arrest record will definitely dent future resumes.

i had all my gear taken the night of the uk-ku championship game. they got 6 rods and a plano tacklebox stuffed to the gills.

just now got some of the gear replaced so i could fish again.

Wise advice. I am going to do that.

I don't jack around with worrying about it, and had a SPECIFIC rider added to my homeowners and boat policy that covers all my fishing gear.

I call it my fishing gear policy, because it covers if stole at my house , or the hotel, or the boat, or my car, or the boat ramp........Or the campground.

More importantly, it also covers it if I SINK my canoe and lose it all. Capsize in the boundary waters with 1000.00 of rods and reels and 500 worth of tackle. 100 dollar deductible, and it is covered.

I am really sorry about your loss. That is low down.

as of right now my homeowners is going to cover but it totalled almost 4 thousand dollars so Idk how much im going to get but something is really better than nothing. I really do appreciate everyone's condolences and advice on here it helps me realize a lot of great people do still exist. thank you all!
