Idiot Republicans are not smart enough to see they LOST the election, and it's time to COMPROMISE. You wanna say "You and I both know it's because of Obama," well guess what, MORE THAN HALF THE COUNTRY DISAGREES.
The Republican party's intransigence on allowing a single tax increase on ANYBODY is the biggest part of what got us here, whether you have the objectivity to admit that or not. When the Republicans say, "OK, we lost the election. We are not in the position of power we had hoped we would be. You can have your precious tax increase on those making >250k/year" and then the Democrats refuse to compromise on spending cuts, THEN you can blame Obama. Until then, the blame lies squarely on the Republicans.
Republicans WANT cuts before additional revenues are raised..........Spend my money more effectively before I give you more money.
Republicans have fallen the the bait and switch way too many times in the past. We have raised taxes in the past, and never got the spending cuts promised.......
This time around, make the CUTS, and then if we still need revenues, raise taxes.......
Oh, btw.......there are bills passed by the house that Harry Reid will not even allow to come to the floor. One such bill was a bill to repeal obamacare.....It passed the house overwhelmingly, and more than likely would have passed the senate, because EVEN democrats don't want it but Harry Reid would not even allow it to come to the floor.
So lets not just blame republicans here........this is dirty politics....pure and simple.
I'm wondering why nobody is arguing about federal government spending.
Idiots? I'll tell you what is idiotic. Raising taxes on ANYONE before the government gets spending under control.
The Democrats have not passed a budget in 3 years, can any of you geniuses explain that one for me?
Yes, the Dems won the presidential election. You can stop pounding your chests now, most of us have heard about it already.
Since Obama won the presidential election are we supposed to just blindly follow the left wing press and ignore his trillions of dollars in budget deficits? How high should our national debt go before we're allowed to say anything? 20 trillion? 30? How high before his supporters get their heads out of their asses and say something? 50 trillion? 60?
I would start with entitlements. If you don't work sorry you don't get money. I am sorry unless you are quadriplegic you can do something to earn some money. We have all had jobs that we did not like but, had to do it. I am tired of going into the projects or in section 8 housing and finding much nicer stuff in the house than I have. Half of the people that get a check don't know why they just get a check.
Have a EBT store where if you get food stamps you have to shop there. Sorry you don't get stakes and named brand cerial and cokes. If you don't like it get a job.

Good afternoon Mr. Fisher, hope you and yours had a good holiday... Was just wondering if you were advocating doing away with social security and if so, what do you envision our country might look like if folks who have health problems or because of accidents can't continue to earn their livelihood?... It seems to me one of the reasons we have a great country is because we have compassion for the less fortunate.
Changes to it definitely.......but don't do away with it......not in the near term at least.
I've out performed SSI in my personal retirement. If the gubment would give me every penny I've put in, AND my employers match, I will go away and never take a penny of SSI......NEVER.
If they would give me every penny I've put into medicare, and my employer, I will go away and NEVER take a penny there either.
My point is gubment is horrible and piss poor at managing that. In extremely shitty economies, I've still managed to average over 10% over the past 25 years in my portfolio........If I had the money I put into gubment plans I'd be ready to retire.

Good afternoon Mr. Horse... We are always hearing "get spending under control", I suspect that would be a good idea but tell us where you would make the cuts to "get the spending under control".
A good start would be a budget of some kind...any kind that is not a trillion dollars underwater. Just the interest on our national debt is probably a few million a minute right now, we can't afford to borrow more money.
Okay, here's where I'd start. Eliminate the Dept of Homeland Security, the Dept of Education, HUD, several other government alphabets, 20% cut for every civil servant making over $100,000 a year, put government sponsored unemployment back to 6 months or so instead of the 2 or 3 years it is now. I could go on for a long time here, but I'm too lazy.
If the Democrats were serious about everyone paying their fair share they'd be trying to implement a flat tax rate across the board. Eliminate the IRS (another gigantic bureaucracy) and all of us pay the same percentage.
That will NEVER fly, the Dems need government dependents' votes to stay in power. Obama phones, free money, etc. buys plenty of votes...maybe even that magical 2% Obama won by. You think?

Oddly I agree with you mostly with the exception of the flat tax, nobody will ever convince me that moving the tax burden from the folks who can most afford it to the folks who can least afford it is the right thing to do.... How does it help to take taxes out of one hand of somebody and put food stamps or some other government assistance in the other... It does seem there are way too many folks drawing their paychecks from tax dollars though... I would add legalizing drugs and putting a stop to the so called 'war on drugs', I personally believe the war on drugs is doing us more damage than the drugs themselves... Even the southern border might be a little cheaper to police if the drug smugglers were taken out of the picture and we allowed our farmers to cultivate it as a cash crop.

You know.........you can take every single penny of INCOME from the top 2 percent and it doesn't even budge our deficits........
Libs really don't want tax equality....they want WEALTH equality...meaning they want to distribute wealth from rich to poor. That is the ONLY reason inheritance taxes even exist. I mean really...If my family had a 500 or 1000 acre farm and wanted to pass that down to me or my kids, I'd probably have to sell it to pay for the TAXES for the opportunity to own it. Talk about ****.
With regards to tax equality. 47 million heads of households don't pay FEDERAL Income or FICA taxes today, yet they get all kinds of tax breaks and subsidies......and in some cases they get a nice juicy earned income check. Until everyone pays into our tax coffers......don't come to me for MORE.

Mr. Fisher, do you really want to live in a third world country, even if you had a tax rate that you advocate I doubt you would like that.

money is like horse manure, if it's all piled up in a few big piles. it don't do the country or the farm any good. it needs to be spread around, to help the young people or plants grow.

The economy is based on money being turned over, financial resources that gravitate to the few is detrimental to the health of the economy... 'Spread the wealth' is a phrase we hear from the hard liners who believe the economy will flourish by the good graces of the rich, it does seem that Mr. Regan disproved that theory with 'trickle down economics' which failed to trickle down... More minimum wage jobs will do little to help the economy recover, better paychecks will go a long way in the process of recovery but adding minimum wage jobs will only make the problem worse as that will only allow more of the resources to "pile up like manure" as you put it... The middle class needs to grow, not shrink... Money made in the middle class made this country what it is and money taken out of the middle class will continue to suppress our economical health... The rich can get only so rich until we will no longer have a great country to live and raise our families.

I agree so I will quit working and have some body spread their wealth to me. The problem with socialism is you run out of people that are will to work.

I have said it before and ill say it again. You can find stats to back up your beliefs if you really want. You think the GOP gets a fair shake on the networks or Washington Post? Think some of that leans left??
I will play along with you and say this....if there are true independent thinking folks getting polled and they believe that spending Trillions of dollars, bailing out failing industries, funding bullcrap business, high gas prices, failing Congress, Obamacare and banning guns is the ok thing to do and not take any responsibilty for any of the failed ideas then we are totally skeee-rood!!!
-
So you guys talking horse manure feel money should be taken from some and spread around to others right? Apparently you believe the government should decide who gets what then. The constitution and freedom be damned, if you're rich, the government should have the power to take however much of your money they want.
(BTW, this is the same government that maybe 12 to 15% of Americans trust and believe in. Man, those honest and trustworthy politicians in Washington, DC are going to finally make it all better for us.)
What percentage of their income should the rich pay the government? 40? 50? 60?
Exactly what tax rates are the Democrats proposing?
What happens when the rich don't have enough to pay for the government 'services' those of us who are less fortunate are entitled to? What happens when they start digging in your pile of manure? Think you'll still be calling for more and bigger government?
Come to think of it the federal government is about to scoop deeper into my tiny pile of manure starting in January. (see the beginning of this thread) I'm not rich, what the hey?
Bush's fault? Nope he's long gone. The evil Republicans' fault? Nope they only control a single branch of congress. Now who is left...let me think a sec...oh I know, how about Barack freakin Obama and Harry freakin Reid?
