There is overwhelming evidence for the existence of Jesus in biblical history. Perhaps the greatest evidence that Jesus did exist is the fact that thousands of Christians in the first century A. D., including the twelve apostles, were willing to die as martyrs for Jesus. Why would anyone want to die for a lie? You have to also remember Rome destroyed Jerusalem and Israel in A.D. 70 and a lot of historical evidence were destroyed during this time. However, there is also evidence in secular history as well. The following are some of the historian writers who gave accounts of Jesus.
First-century Tacitus in “Annals 15.44” wrote about Jesus suffering under Pontius Pilate.
Flavius Josephus the famous Jewish historian in his “Antiquities” refers to Jesus.
Thallus writes about the crucifixion in the “Extant Writings, 18”.
Piny the Younger in “Letters 10.96” writes about Jesus’ followers.
The Babylonian Talmud in “Sanhedrin 43a” confirms Jesus’ crucifixion.

Do any of these show evidence of the jesus of the new testament? or simply a man who was said to be the leader of the jews and was crucified for that.. Josephus was a jew and as such would not have been a believer of jesus the messiah..
There is no evidence that I have ever seen which lends any credence to jesus the messiah... To the contrary there seems to be a complete lack of anything historical which gives any evidence to that.. Does nobody find it strange that with all the things the new testament says happened surrounding this character that nothing was recorded that substantiates anything except him being am actual person who did not do anything extraordinary... History says he was nothing more than a man who was crucified by the romans...

I believe
One known fact. History is written by the ones in power! Don't believe me? I know what I saw, [before photo shop] I doubt the absolute veracity of the old testament, because there are very few facts on many issues. But I believe in MY recollections of things that occured in My lifetime. There were a great many known mortals who have been here, that no one knows about, except the very few who had contact with them. I know I get confusing at times, but regardless, I still believe in one God, and a son, and a holy spirit.Thats why He is omnipotent,he can do anything He wants.

Just because human logic can't comprehend God, doesn't mean God doesn't exist
No sir it does not but it seems logic was used in the reasoning as to why there had to be a god.
Small minded?.... simply because someone doesn't believe as you do?..
There is absolutely no reason beyond faith to believe in a diety
The supernatural is simply unacceptable to some of us,
I know several people who claim to be atheist and to my knowledge none have referred to anybody
by a name such as small minded, for some reason these kinds of judgments seem to be used by those who profess a belief in gods and such.. Why is that?... it seems to be against your teachings but alas, there it is..
It was a description about a belief, not a description of anyone ABOUT THEIR BELIEFS. Arrogant is another one to describe the belief that humans can explain everything about the universe. Heck, even the concept of a universe is something humans made up.
I'm not criticising people for not believing. I'm arguing against the stance that if you can't explain or understand God, then God doesn't exist.
Guys, A long time age I felt as you guys do but occurrences since then caused me to question that feeling and caused me to realize if there was a creator he/she was a very cruel entity and that is bolstered by what is written in the old testament... After a few years it made no sense to me and since then has only made less sense... There are so many contradictions in the bible that it is impossible to believe any of it is true... Have talked to those who say their belief comes not from the bible but from somewhere else... There is no other source for a belief in the christian god other than the bible and what is passed down from the older generation which influenced a persons life. If you were raised a christian you are likely a christian, if you were raised a muslim you are likely to be a muslim and so on but ask a christian about the only true god he will tell you, ask a muslim the same and he will tell you, all cannot be right... There is one reason you believe and that is because you were taught by those who preceded you, there is no logical reason... Religion is a fascinating subject of discussion but inevitable there are those who feel their belief is being attacked because there are no answers to questions of faith.. We tend to struggle for explanations where there are none..
But what if our lives on earth were such a tiny, insignificant portion of our entire story that the good and bad that happen to us mean essentially nothing? Things that seem cruel to you might look completely different from a different perspective.

I haven't heard anybody make this argument.. Mostly people just don't accept it for their own reasons or have actually tried to understand... Attempting to find anything outside of the bible to give credence to the entire concept seems to be an adventure in futility, there is simply nothing to substantiate it other than the (it couldn't do it by itself so thee had to be a creator),that simply is not a rational answer..

I see evidence of God's existence everywhere. Not just in the Bible.
I see evidence of God's existence everywhere. Not just in the Bible.
you and I are on the same page on this one, every thing we see around us, and up above, has to come from a God. be open minded and think about The Big Bang Theory, if a big bang created all this, the big bang had to be intelligent, it created and placed all the planets in the right order, with one being the sun for a heat source. created two types of water, salt and fresh water, thousands of different plants and trees, thousand of different insects, with both male and female of each kind, thousands of different kind of fish, male and female, all the animals both male and female, oxygen for animals and people to breathe. made man and woman with minds smart enough to build a ride that can take them into outer space, placed the earth the right distance from the sun, so we could have different seasons. made our digestive systems so we could eat the plants it made.one could go on and on looking at all the wonders this intelligent Big Bang made. I just can't see this wonderful world being created by an explosion.

When I am on a lake at sunrise and see all the magical wonders of mother nature I am sure that God created all this wonder. I can't believe it could just happen with out a creator.

I have a few things in my life's (must do list not bucket list) one is this...I don't want to be on my death bed or seconds before an untimely death and think oh crap there is a God and I'm seeing my maker appear before my eyes and I blew it. Secondly, but not lastly, I don't want to look back on my life and have a TON of ohhh I wish I would have don't that or tried that so I engage/challenge myself in many ways regardless of age. I see it as one life to live and make the most out of it.

Struck by these lines. :-)

I have to say that the odds of a "big bang" are what? Like one in a quadrillion! Also the thing about Cristianity is that miracles happen in it so often, and they're more common than most think. An atheist might say that those are just coincidences but would there really be that many unexplainable "coincidences"? I don't think so! Saying there's no God is like saying there is no sun, I promise you the sun is not just an unexplainable light. There's a sun! Just thought I'd share my thoughts on the whole deal! Going to a Catholic high school it's hard to sit though a class and say "all of this is a lie" there's just too much evidence. I guess you could be philosophical and ask why but that's just one of many questions our brains will never be capable of understanding. That's my input!

back to the start line.
God and religion, can't be one with out the other. Lets try a simple one. Which came first, chicken or the egg?
