Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
It was the Lake cumberland open big bass event out of Burnside island ramp.
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
I would have liked the KDFW to have been involved from the beginning, like Dave said ( too bad ) JMO

Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
Would KDFWR have a say on the matter? If the fish were legal, then isn't that where KDFWR jurisdiction would have stopped? I'm not agreeing with what the guy did or anything, just saying the issue is more fraud than a wildlife violation.
Read the Discussion Board Rules before you post here again....or you won't be posting anymore here. My thoughts on this issue have nothing to do with my reminder that the rules of this site state you must put up your contact information before making such accusations. This applies to you, me and anyone else.
If you do not like the way the site is being administrated, then I would advise you to send your complaints to "] as stated in the Discussion Board Rules rather than posting your complaints on the boards, which by the way is another violation of the rules as is your slamming of me and the site.
End of Conversation about this on the boards.
So, i will take that as a threat that if I dont agree with the rules that I will be banned. It is sad that I can be threatened on the post, but the real guy that commited a CRIME here is not being prostected. This was not a personal attack to Mr. Stewart, and if perceived as such, I do apologize. It is just so sad that even a sportsman's discussion board is so closely regulated and afraid of lawsuits that we cannot talk about this guy by name. I have fished many local tournaments here is East KY, and am afraid that this pond scum could leak his way over here and try to scam us as well. Had this happened at one of our local ramps, this guy would be praying that a stoning would be the worst thing that happend to him. Everyone would know his name because it would be on the front page of the local paper. But enough about him. This guy was wrong, should have been prosecuted, and instead i am the bad guy for freely posting what I believe. Rules are rules, and this guy violated the most important rule to sportsman/fisherman, and walked away smelling like a rose. Is there no justice, or are they afraid of following the rules, also? And again, Mr. Stewart, if you and some others feel as if I attacked you personaly, Im sorry.
Obviously you did not read the rules....again you have broken the discussion board rules by posting your complaint about the way this site is administated....read the rules, then send your complaints to "] as is stated in the rules. You do not have to agree with the rules here..but you will abide by them. Your new here so I am being lenient but my patience is running thin. Like you said...rules are rules.
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
Definitly fraud. Their names will be known soon enough. Heck I know people that have been accused of things when they were 100% innocent & people always talked behind their back. These two were guilty, but given the oppurtunity to not weigh in & leave. They will be very well known tournament(I mean ex tournament) fisherman for sure now.Sort of like a used car salesman lying to you & ripping you off. You never forget.
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
BBC board has his last name posted. I am sure alot of the story is getting twisted around pretty good but if it is true this guy should never be allowed to fish again in the state of KY.

I don't think Dave threatened you in any fashion. You obviously have not read the rules of this board or you would not be making such accusations. Dave Stewart is one of the fairest people you will ever meet and he has helped practically everyone who posts on this board at one time or the other and we are all glad he is our friend. If you can't read the rules or you can't understand them maybe you need to give up posting of message boards such as this.
Just because you use a "made up name" to post on boards such as this you cannot make claims against other people and expect to stay "hidden". Anyone who posts on these boards are liable to slander and can have a civil action brought against them even if the facts being outlined have some truth to them. A court order is all it takes to find out who you are and where you are for the sheriff to serve your papers. Plus Fishin.com can also be brought into a civil case for allowing such activity, THIS IS WHY WE HAVE MODERATORS.
As for the story that got this started I would be questioning the hosts of the tournament as to why they let these guys off if they had an ironclad case against them? If they could prove these guys cheated and didn't have them prosecuted then I for one would never again fish a tournament they sponsored. Cheats cannot be allowed to walk if there is evidence enough to warrant a criminal charge.
I used to fish about every tournament I could get to but situatiions such as this dulled my competetive spirit. I have fished this tournament in years past and back then it was wide open for such activities. They finally threatened the fishermen with a lie detector test but I don't think this would have much of an influence to someone hardcore enough to actually carry out an act such as cheating. Bottom line is if there is EVIDENCE and not claims of cheating then the tournament organizers should have called in law enforcement to open a case against these individuals and bring criminal charges. They didn't and if I has fished this tournament I would have been very unhappy no only with the guys accused of cheating but the tournament organizers also. Who knows if they were the only one's who fished this tournament who had fish in a basket???????????? Maybe the others either didn't get caught or they turned in these guys???? Makes you think anyway.
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
Until these guys actually weighed the fish and collected money or something of value there is no crime. They can walk around in the parking lot all day long with marked fish without commiting a crime. You can think about robbing a bank but until you actually take some action to carry out the crime it is not a crime.
I am in no form or fashion trying to condone what these guys did and if they are guility a jail cell would be too good for them. Until this happens they are protected by the same laws we all are and if their names are slandered on boards such as this they can seek a financial award from persons who carry out such acts and also in some cases Fishin.com can also be held liable if they allow such activity to occur on boards they control.
If the tournament organizers had evidence that would warrant criminal charges and they simply let these guys go is as wrong as the guys trying to cheat to begin with. To maintain intregrity in events such as this theifs must be held accountable. When people who are guilty of wrong doing is allowed to walk it puts this tournament and all such tournaments in a light of suspicion.
Re: Monticello, Ky. man gets caught cheating in annual big fish tourney on Cumberland
Here's my 2 cents. A recent tour of jury duty has enlightened me.
I agree with bullmerc, No crime was commited. Fact
Tournament officials let them off the hook. Fact
I wont fish againt these guys accused of cheating and wont fish tournaments held by those officials. "IF" what happened really took place then one is just as bad as the other. One for "attempting" to cheat, and the other for not enforcing tournament rules.:confused:

I agree TimT. Some folks don't read into the details, even if they do read the post. That's why we keep seeing the same redundant messages......
