I guess many ways to pick top lakes. I find good lakes you catch some fish even when they are "not biting". You catch a ton with good quality when the "are biting". KY and Barkley fit this pattern. Barren maybe. Everything else is iffy based on my experiences with mostly central kentucky lakes over 30 years. Should be noted that I have not fished anything in state to speak of in 10 years other then Barkley/KYL. I just decided my sparse time on the water would be spent on the best bodies of water.
