Well, here's my take on this. When I come on the board, which I do almost daily, I click on "new post". And then Wow, what a garden variety of topics to select from. I don't only see the post title, but also the board on which it is posted! One of the first I chose to open is the "Off Topics", well that was in the past! Some of the "rants" have, and continue to go "over board", and I have recently learned to just skip over them. With that being said, I'm thinking a separate board for "sports" would be helpful.
Might also be helpful if there was a separate board for "politics". I, as well as others on the board, have a hate/love with the subject. Will be interesting to read the postings if the GOP regains the Pres, Senate, and maintains the House.......Suspect there will be nothing to talk about..??
Thanks for listening, :D:D

The hate when Bush was president is 100 x worse than the rhetoric being directed at the dems and the current administration.
I'd LOVE for one time for you guys to admit that......JUST ONCE.
I personally think the chaos created in Washington is good for discussion. When one group owns the house, the senate, the judiciary, and the white house, it leads to SILLY STUFF being done.
It is a **** shame that the foolish pubs under Bush spent like drunken sailors. Had the been a little fiscally responsible we would have never elected Obama, and we would have NEVER passed Obamacare, or spent the money that Obama has been spending.
I really am interested in the "change" the pubs can bring. I just wonder if it will be 1994 type change or what.........
No matter.........WE NEED to stop the bleeding and we need direction and leadership.
Later,

I know in the past we talked about a separate political board with maybe limited access where folks would be able to speak their mind more "precisely".
I was thinking any sports board if there is to be one would moderated the same way as this one.
thanks
I personally like the fact that there is one board where we can discuss everything under the Sun in one place.
There are 20 post on the first page of the main board and only a handful are sports related. It's not like there is a sports post overflow that is pushing post that are a few hours or even a day old to the second page.
I mean what's next a angry GeoFisher board where only he can post? :)
Is it that hard to not look at or get sucked into post that you have no intrest in?
One suggestion I would make to Peter is to implement an ignore poster button/option if possible. Then if you keep buttin heads with someone hit the ignore button and you no longer see their post/replies.
Just my 2 cents.

I wouldn't use it myself but if it would help ease some of the tension on the board then it might be worth it because it seems like a lot of regular posters are posting less and less or even saying they are leaving because some posters have taken things over the top in their opinion.
The ignore button would block post/replies of the people they see as button pushers because we all know there are button pushers on here.
Like I said earlier "Is it that hard to not look at or get sucked into post that you have no intrest in?" because there is talk of starting other boards since people are complaining about certain types of post being made on the main board, which I don't get.
There is an ignore feature on the board if you go to your User CP. It works great except when someone quotes the person you have on ignore.
I find it interesting the open forum has about as much activity as the entire site does

I don't.
That's the way the life cycle of these forums work. After awhile, the regulars realize that you can only talk about fishing stuff so long before it gets boring. They hang around, comment now and then on the fishing board, but generally migrate to the Off Topic board and BS with each other. Politics, Sports, Religion, and all kinds of topics come up. Some people get butt-hurt and leave, but usually find their way back.
It's the Circle of Life on a fishing forum.
I've been around enough to know - Have even administrated/moderated a couple in my time. This aint anything new.
I voted no to a new board.
I come to this site for fishing information. The Off Topic board as it is now is a catch-all for anything else and I think that's fine. If a board is added for sports, then why not add one for politics, books, computers, cell phones, etc. Pretty soon we have a message board for lots of stuff besides fishing.
If I want to talk sports, I go to message boards whose purpose is sports.
That being said, I support whatever the owners of the site want to do. For me, the site is free and I'm grateful for any info and/or entertainment I get from it. I know it takes time to run and moderate and it is something that has been valuable to me.
