harassment may have been the wrong word to use. I don't mind being checked because I do everything I can to make sure I'm legal. The guy was prefectly nice he wasn't rude or anything.
And to the gentleman that said he was just doing his job. If he was doing his job he would have checked some of the pleasure boats that was around. Not just ilde into a no wake check the only boat fishing and then leave.
Maybe they didn't have all their safety equipment.
They usually will only stop boats when they have reason. Just like a police officer cannot just stop a car to see if you have insurance. Although KDFWR does have the right to stop any boat I would guess that most CO's wait until they have reason. If the pleasure boaters were anchored and not fishing then why would they want to go to them. I dislike these kind of threads because they start rumors and give LE Officers a bad name. At least you admitted he was nice. I dont care if they check me everyday of the week they are just out there doing their jobs. I was not going to post but finally I decided enough is enough and I dont post often. Now I feel better.
what would be the reason that he checked me? Do you know? Probably not being you wasn't there. Like I said I didn't mind being checked. My only beef was that I was the only one in that area that he checked.
with your way of thinkig I quest being that they were ancorded they must have enough life jackets for everyone on board and that maybe he could sense that their fire extingiusher was in working order.
And like I said before if he was doing his job he would have checked some of the others.
sometimes a game warden eats crow, here a little story of a KDFWR officer, that got to eat a little crow. this man that loved to fish for smallmouth at night. fished all night and was to tired to put his fishing gear away. tied the bass boat to the house boat with fishing reels laying on the fishing deck. and went inside and went to bed. his wife took the bass boat, and trolled out in the bay, dropped anchor, rubbed on the suntan lotion, got up on the back deck and lay down enjoying the beautiful day. here comes the KDFWR officer. pulls up and ask to see her fishing license, the woman said. but officer I'm not fishing, the KDFWR officer said, look lady you have all the necessary equipment. as for all I know you could start any time. so I'm giving you a ticket. she said officer when you do, I'm going to start screaming rape. and the officer said, lady I haven't touched you. and she said, you have all the necessary equipment, as for all I know you could start any time. the KDFWR officer Idled away and said, have a nice day lady. :)
aaaahhhhhh?.....how did she know he had the equipment.......enoch?
I started fisihing in 1962 and I have never seen them focus on anything other than fishermen. I was right behind a friend of mine when we slowed down for the no wake at Axtel. Kdfw pulled him over and gave him a ticket for not slowing to idle quick enough. As two girls on a skee doo went flying by. But no ticket for them. Another time the Kdfw had a potoon inside the bouys at state park checking bass boat as we came in for the weigh in. I was President of the club so I asked them why they were only focusing on us, that's profiling. I told him if these boys paid that much for their equipment wouldn't it be common sense they would spend the little money it takes to get everything else they needed? Can you say the same about runabouts and potoons full of beer? The next boat he checked was a pontoon. Most of them mean well but they don't thnik it out. It's like why does Kdfw load up Rough the first weekend in May? Because the tags expire the last weekend in April. They are down there giving out tickets keft and right and I'm for that. But the down side is they focus on bassboats. Pontoons with 20 people and 10 lifejackets and an expired sticker don't get stopped. Run a bouts and ski boats with coolers full of beer on board and expired stickers don't get stopped and don't get a $200 ticket. ro

I don't have a problem with getting stopped and checked. But if anyone else was at Taylorsville Sunday you know you would have been wishing Water patrol was out in full force. Van Buren area is a no ski zone. They need to put that in the paper or on TV or something. I say this not because I really care for myself but these guys were just plain dangerous. I wish someone was there to write a ticket because I was scared for them. Matter of fact they shoudl have been kicked off the lake. Worse example was I was coming in for the day headed toward the ramp and I saw this big boat just do a 180 just outside the idle zone at Van Buren. I was like wow wonder what happened to that guy then the closer I got I saw a kid on a wake board. They were still at the first point on the left if you are coming out of the idle zone. I wanted to go over there and tell them they were going to kill someone.
Unless they had a fishing pole in their hand they are safe.
what i hate is when they come to check me during the first two hours in the morning or the last two hours in the evening or during a tournament. i am fishing a new 21 foot ranger and they stop me to see if i got a 20 dollar license. pretty retarded. they should let me direct their inspections one day and i guarantee i could get their revenue stream up ten fold and almost every boat they stop would be written a ticket for something. i actually saw a warden ask a guy from illinois for his license on kentucky lake last month when he was fishin off the dock and the guy said i dont have a license and the warden told him to go home and did not write him a ticket. i started to make a citizens arrest right in front of the warden but he looked to dumb to know what that means.

As long as they had a green sticker on their boat, the warden had no reason to stop them. Just as if you were floating on your boat not doing anything.
By you performing an act requiring a license, he checked you as a result.
If the pleasure boat was not displaying the proper license, im sure they would have got checked too..
by them being on the water they are subject to being checked. They don't have to have a reason for a boat inspection.
understand wat ur sayin i fish taylorsville 4 da hybrids n been checked before n at da same time im bein washed around by the cruisers it can b a pain n add the hot weather makes frustrating days. Buddy of mines a game warden around there he does his best to work da cruisers but its hard 2 keep up wit all of them
What the.....kind of language is this?!! It's not "cute," it's not English, and it is not ebonics. How is it possible that you can spell 'frustrating' but are unable to spell simple words like 'the, that, you're, and, with?'
I'm sorry but people who deliberately slay the English language really get under my skin.
