Re: # 1 UNC goes down
So lack of aclohol sales is why IU doesn't have the attendance numbers? That makes sense, I would have to drink to watch the Hoosiers play! :)
Hey Clyde, Since so many people are just dying to go see IU play, how come you guys haven't expanded Assembly Hall or built a new arena? I mean after all, most of the country is IU fans according to Coombro's sampling!
No Tim again I said that U of L has more seats available for it's games and the sales of alcohol is the 2 major reasons why U of L has more attendence and overall sales....
Quite a bit of money is made in beer sales at Chicken Arena per game played there.....$8.00 a beer x all the beer drinkers at the games adds up to a lot of money for U of L.....

Re: # 1 UNC goes down
I may as well comment...sounds to me like there are some here who are very jealous of the fact that the University of Louisville has their own, very NICE and very NEW arena to play ball in.
Coonbro and Mills, if you all ain't been down there to visit it yet you ought to...heck at least catch a concert or something, it's first class!

UK likes to copy Louisville an awful lot for us being little brother. We expand stadium, they start talks. We build the yum center, suddenly rupp isn't good enough. We hire strong, and UK gets joked. Bunch of wannabes if you ask me.

So Louisville builds The Yum Center and "suddenly Rupp isn't good enough". How many years has Kentucky been kicking around the idea of replacing Rupp, improving Rupp or building an on campus arena? Many many moons longer than The Yum Center has been around. If 1996/1997 serves me correctly, it gets no closer to an on-campus Basketball arena than was proposed then when Pitino was coaching Kentucky. I don't think this puts Kentucky in the wannabe class. I will say, what better time to strike while the iron is hot coming off Elite 8, Final 4 seasons plus this years team. If you build it, "they will come".

Dag gone Mills...I never comment on these sports threads much, but seriously, you think alcohol is one of the reasons that U of L has such good attendance???? Man I know you can't be serious about this...seriously, that's what you think??? Now if beer was $2.00 per 16 ounces of draft or $1.50 dollar longnecks during one of the two halves, then yea I'd agree with you. But at $8.00 dollars per beer I GAURANTEE you there ain't no one rushing to the Yum Center for the beer. Maybe to ogle the lady birds yes, but not for $8.00 beers....heck man, there's enough happy hour deals all around the Yum center now days, everyone loads up before the game and gets one to go to drink on the walk over to the arena.
In fact....I doubt very seriously if anyone TRULY interested in a sporting event of any kind makes their decision on attending a game or event based on whether or not alcohol is sold.
You ever heard of a flask?

Re: # 1 UNC goes down
Pretty sure they are not $8 either, but its Mills, so facts never get in the way of his arguments anyway.

Old news...they've been kickin around the remodeling of Rupp for yrs...Not just for basketball purposes....The rumor at one time was to built an on campus basketball arena, but not sure where that went.
