That is just a cop out. I mean, do you not fish anywhere there is a tournament? I mean, we wouldn't want you exposed to any blights now would we??

One could make a case that if you are only fishing for fun, you are not competing to try to put money in your wallet through fishing, and you are not fishing to eat, then it could be said you are an even bigger blight on nature. At least tournament fisherman are doing it for money, and for the natural call to compete; but you are just fishing, hooking them, taking the chance to gut hook them, and for what? NOTHING!! You aren't even eating them or making money. BLIGHT BLIGHT BLIGHT.

You like to take controversial positions, or at the very least, you like to stir the pot, but you are truly afraid of people finding out who you are. Too bad. It sure limits you in what you can do.... unless of course you are someone else who is attending, and so you can't attend as two people at the same time, which means you are using this identity to simply stir the pot. Of course, you know what I really mean instead of pot, don't you?

I don't like tournaments because I don't think fishing should be about competition.

This "get-together" is really a tournament and you all know it. If it's just about getting together, why have the tournament?

If you have been paying attention from the very beginning, there was no official tournament. Then some wanted to fish, as this is a fishing board. Also, this site has a tournament board, and mostly has tournament fishermen, so a friendly, very inexpensive tournament was born. There was even suggested a creek type fishing contest for those who wished to fish the tail waters, like a creek.

Also you would have noticed that I recently posted that if Jim, or someone else could not hold the pavillion, I would not be fishing the tournament, as I woudl be making sure we had a pavillion for the cook out. So, as you see, the tournament is secondary. Also, from what I understand, there have been attendees who don't fish the tournament, and are only there for the fellowship. Now I've addressed your questions, would you answer one please?

Why would the pressence of some type of tournament preclude you from participating in a fellowship get together of several people who all enjoy discussing our great "sport" of fishing?

It was only in this latest thread that it began being called a "get-together" although everyone knows what it really is.

I'm through with this thread. It's not about me, anyway. It's about 45 people replying and then 5 showing up to fish a tournament all morning and then eat some food for a bit.

And as I said before, if it's really about getting together and fellowship, why can't you drop the tournament altogether?

fishrgurl. i am one of those who hasnt been able to show up although I wanted too. we vote on where but then when a date is set in the middle of tourny season the weekends seem to get smaller. I plan on fishing AND FELLOWSHIPPING at this one unless it is on a club date

What's in a name anyway ? What should it matter to you "fishrgurl" whether it's called a Fishin.com Get Together or Fishin.com Tournament ? You wouldn't show if you were given that Mustang you wanted last year.

I haven't been causing any controversy. If you haven't noticed, I don't go into the tournament threads and reply about anything. All I did this time was mention how there had been all these grand plans at the last two "get-togethers" and then basically nobody show up. From that point, people asked me to attend and I told why I wouldn't. If you'd quit insisting, you wouldn't hear a peep out of me.

FISHGURL do you live near E-town? If they have it at Nolin I will show up if you will. I will fish and then eat enjoy a few laughs and go home. I live in Sonora so it is close by for me!!
