2 months left
I know a lot of you fellas love winter and your little buggy whip rods and all that I for one am NOT a fan of cold weather. The way I see it with the geographical winter in full swing we are now one third of the way finished. Most Met's in these parts consider our winter to be Dec, Jan and Feb so we have two months left and we are staring straight at good ole Spring.
If it was up to me I would move to Arizona and only come back here for to visit but the wife doesn't see it that way.
Glass half full I say, winter is one third over.............:)

I have always considered winter in that same time period. Never knew the meteorologists describe it that way though. I don't mind the winter because I just bundle up and keep doing the things I like to do. I will say that this winter I discovered Polar Tec base layer and that stuff is incredible for staying warm.

Yep the term you will hear them use is Meteorological Winter. It is geographically driven though.
Calendar winter starts Dec 21st and is considered the Winter solstice but in most all scientist opinions the winter here is already 21 days old at that time....:)

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Only two more months of winter. The beginning of March is always iffy but by then at least you know warmer weather is near.

The only thing I like about winter is when it's over. I enjoy being outside all the time and I can't stand sitting in the house because it's to cold outdoors. Makes me stir crazy. Hey could you possibly post a link to some of the extended winter forecast. I want to get a general idea of whats to come.

Go to the CPC, which stands for the climate predicition center and it will show you many graphics and things to search around on and with. It is an extension of NOAA and does decent sometimes at these long term forecasts. They did horrible last year and the farmers almanac nailed last winter. This year the CPC is doing about a B- for most of the country and have been pretty spot on here with our forecast on temps and not so good with precip.

Mhall
What are they predicting.
Mild winter and early spring?

Winter means smallmouth fishing and layers of clothing to me. Went last Sunday, and going Saturday unless its full on blizzard. I'm seriously thinking of moving my winter brown girl chasing operations to Green River Res instead of Dale Hollow.
Mr. Hall should be able to put me on em over there. What about some inside info brother?

Not really they have us in the EC or equal chance category which means we could either be colder or warmer than normal. This weekend will be extremely wet followed by brutally cold next week especially late week. Many locations will see single digit lows late next week............Get ready for a wild ride.
Man I hate winter

While all you guys are whining about it being cold.......I will be in a tropical paradise. My wife and I are headed to Hawaii in a few..........CANNOT wait. 18 days, 3 islands.
I will be sure to post some pics.......Funny thing, I found a really cool place to smallie fish there. I've been told if I even talk fishing, I will be murdered in my sleep......HM.
