Didn't get any love/hate on the photo board, and I need to brag somewhere. Got a good one last weekend on Guntersville. 8lbs 4oz. One of the more intense 30-45 second periods in my boat lately.

That is a nice one Jim..Congrats! What did you catch her on?

Thanks man. Got her on a Zoom trick worm. Typically fish that on a spinning rod, but being at the Big G I rigged it on a caster with 14lb line...thank God.
My nephew (6' 1" and prolly 180lbs) netted it after a short but fierce struggle. I was so amped I grabbed him up net, fish, and all with one arm. Swung him around like he was no bigger than my daughter. He got an elbow under my chin so I couldn't kiss him, but it was close.
I bet! Hahahaha man it's been years since I caught anything over 6lbs much less 8+.... I may have to just go catfishing on the Ohio again to hang into a bigun.....or go saltwater fishing!
Nice Piggy, Congrats on that brute. Oh and a bass that big is HUGE in any state.

Thanks Geo.
Last night I checked the hand scales I weighed her on. A bag of tools that weighed 8lbs and 3oz on the hand scales weighed 8.66 lbs on Equalizer tournament scales. So maybe was closer to 8.7 than 8.25 ...doesn't really matter.
From her tail, she clearly hadn't spawned yet, so I figure she's fanning her out a bed right about now. She's keeping a sharp eye out for a Buck to spray her eggs and watch the nest.
Bass that big has really good genes, she will lay some eggs that will produce another future piggy like her.
Super fish Jim, way to go man. That is a serious slaunch donkey....

Thanks Mark, appreciate it.
Nice fish. A little incentive to get out on the water.

She is a good fish and has some great genetic material in her. We need more fish like that.
I fish a lake where the size limit is 18" long and you can only take two fish over 18". So the fish in this old strip pit are bigger than normal at some point in time. Some still die from natural causes and other's are caught and taken out illegally but they don't always get caught doing that.
Bluegrass Pit and Loon Pit in Southern IN Warrick County are being managed as "Trophy Bass" lakes by the Fisheries Manager for this area.
