I was a Great idea gone bad....the bass fishing is decent but the lake is overfished. just my .02.
I looked at the website and can't find any mention of Cedar Creek, what section/article are you are referring to?
I have fished Cedar Creek twice, once last October and today and was skunked both times. It was a beautiful day to be on the water but the three people I saw were skunked also. I don't know about too many peopel fishing that lake, there couldn;t have been more than four or five boaats there today.
go there some weekend this spring and summer...they're proably be more now with the new BEACH and all..
I think they should ban all except bank fishing to give it a chance to blossum.
Fished it around ten times last summer and fall.We saw several nice bass being boated. It a real nice place to go during the week. lot of people fishing off ramps and dock.Gess thet have to be some were.were in to big bluegill with cane pole had a blast.
i fished it last summer during the night. we started at 7 pm and fished till 2 and we caught 25 bass and the smallest being 2 1/2lbs. and we only fished 2 spots! caught most of our fish usein a 10 inch red shad worm.
Have fished it 6 times or so. Always catch fish. It's sad to see SO MANY people fishing the lake though. I wish it were 3-4X bigger! I also hear there are lots of people keeping illegal fish (LM limit is one fish per day at 20")... My buddy caught one 21" last March and it was released. I agree with a previous post about fishing CC during the week. I won't touch that lake on the weekend. Way too many boats for me. My best days have come on spinnerbaits, crankbaits jigs and beavers.
As the fishing pressure continues on this lake I think the better fish will be caught in deeper parts of the lake. The obvious spots just get hammered from April - October... My 2 cents.
Hey plumtired when we going to Cedar Creek
This is just another Taylorsville, suppose to be Ky's answer to a trophy lake, ain't gonna happen. Too much pressure, not enough conservation officers and too much pleasure boating and the like. Cumberland has an 18 inch size limit on the smallmouth, and every year I am amazed at how many people that I run into that don't know this or at least act like they don't. I'll guarantee you that one fish a day thing at Cedar is being ignored by many.
Another Taylorsville is a good way to put it.
I was a little shocked to read these posts, shows how much I get on the water I guess. Me and a buddy fished the lake 8 or 10 times last year, all at night during the week. I don't think I caught that many fish all year on Cumberland, some nights we had 14 or 15 fish over 2.5 lbs. Never caught a big fish, probably 3.75, maybe 4 lbs, but had a great time. And never saw any pressure to amount to anything.
Honestly we have 2 offshore spots that we fish, and thats about it. Never had a problem fishing either of them, and usually parked in the first parking spot near the ramp. I'm usually gone out of town most weekends, so I guess thats when most boats are on the water.
I'll probably fish Ceder Creek several times this Summer, if the pressure is that bad during the week I guess we will stick to Cumberland or Linville.
