Re: Ohio River--Louisville
Dude, next time you go, give me holler! I've been looking for a good excuse to get down there for some fun....heck the falls are about the way I like it right now! Catching sauger down there is not too hard at all....just have to know how to read the current, that's all. I might venture down there this weekend if I stop at Wal-mart and get some Hot-Hands to fill my pockets!

Re: Ohio River--Louisville
Well I don't know about fishing from a boat at the falls.........
I've got a lucky rock that's always produced for me! The more you guys talk about the falls, the more I can't wait to get out there!
Re: Ohio River--Louisville
Aint no way in you know where I'm putting my boat in there! Just the two times I've been down there I've seen some poor guy in a boat hit a rock. OUCH! I'm just lookin to do a little shore fishin.....just how close do you have to get to the dam to hit the good stipers/sauger?
And is there a link to show me the flow on the river, and what is a good flow?
Re: Ohio River--Louisville
Right. Guess the water will be high for quite some time.
Re: Ohio River--Louisville
Actually the water is down right now, but fishable from a boat.
Re: Ohio River--Louisville
For one thing, it's too dang cold for this old buzzard to be on the river. How close to the falls? We anchor as close to the lower **** as the current allows, and throw towards the dam. Up river by the Museum is great also. I for one have to wait till the weather gets ablove freezing.
Re: Ohio River--Louisville
Too cold for me to fish in too, and I thought we were supposed to see warmer temps this week (low 40's)??? I might give it a try anyway soon if the water remains stable after Mondays expected rains. Still doing some post duck season rigging to turn the boat back into a fish machine so who knows when I'll venture out. As far as where ... sauger, up by the upper dam is a good bet. ;)
Re: Ohio River--Louisville
I like the variety of fish to be found in the river, that's for sure. What I don't like is the crowd that gathers during the Sauger runs. Talk about a rude bunch of rock huggin', trash droppin', disrespectful, poor excuse for fisherman. It's the same every Fall and Spring. Don't get me wrong, I'm not above going down there and have quite of bit of fun at times. But when the crowds show up, get in a boat or stay home!
Re: Ohio River--Louisville
I know many of the Ohio River ramps aren't very good due to getting silted over so if we were to bring our boat which ramp would be the best to use? I know where the barge is stuck so where would be the best place to try from there? Want to start learning the river so any info is appreciated, Thanks.
